By Americans answering "but that's what we want". There's no good comeback for that except to say "you'll be sorry."
I unfortunately many years ago reached the point where I realized that what most Americans long for is a benevolent dictator. AKA "Authoritarianism, as long as it's my guy".

Voters will proudly admit this today, saying out loud that it's fine because they don't intend on losing again. 😐

Needless to say, ignoring the courts would be the rubber-meets-the-road moment. It would also be an unmasking moment. Can't pretend you aren't trying to seize UnAmerican levels of executive power if you do that.
