Women: man or bear? We choose bear. We have more to fear from men.

MAGA men: man or sandwich? We choose man. We have more to fear from sandwiches.
Border Patrol agent Lairmore testifies that he was not injured by the sandwich, but he felt the impact through his ballistic vest.

The sandwich came apart and "kind of exploded" on his chest upon impact, he says.

"I could smell the onions and mustard."

Besides being married too long, I would also say it's a result of being too steeped in corporate metaphors and tropes such as captivating customers through rotisserie chicken loss leaders
You know you've been married a while when you can make an analogy like "OpenAI is just a store full of rotisserie chickens" and your partner immediately understands it.

I am comforted by the thought that at least the deer will endure.

*Unless Tweedledick and Tweedledumb accidentally, through their stupidity and incompetence, sit their asses on the nuclear launch button. Or deliberately start or incite a nuclear conflict because of their vileness and depravity.

I despise how a company only has to pay lip service to DEI, and we're like "TY! How brave! I will give you all my moneys!"

Yes, virtue signaling > vice signaling/committing any day. But it's sad that we are grateful to keep crumbs now, when we were making progress towards our fair share of the pie.

Big among my many worries is that this chaos is a gift to Russia, N Korea, and other enemies of the US. They could see this as the perfect time to not only further destabilize the world balance but also to target the US mainland or US citizens abroad.

During my Physics Ph.D., I took classes from the MBA school, ranked Top 3.

In one class, teams competed in a market simulation. By Round 2, I controlled ~80% of the market. Everyone else was left in the dust.

The professor took me aside: ~"you're messing up the game." I was kicked out. (1/2)

Step right up, step right up!

What if AI was forced to consume itself? Over and over... in an endless loop of digital digestion!

The astounding AI CENTIPEDE!

Its circuits are SCREAMING... but it must keep GOING!

Witness the future of evolution itself!

Folks, let's savor the "it wasn't a Hitler salute" phase while it lasts. Soon it's going to be "Yeah, he's a Nazi, so what?"

A thoughtful perpective on the way that our systems protect the wealthy elite: "It is not the act itself that defines terrorism in the eyes of the system, but the target... People are beginning to ask questions they were never meant to ask."

At a birthday party, I found the 12 yo cowering behind shelves in the basement.

Me: We gotta go. What are you doing?
12 yo: Simulating being in school
Other kids: <start laughing>

I really hate this group project with all other adults in America. We are so thoroughly failing our children

LMAO: Willow "performed a computation in <5 min that would take one of today’s fastest supercomputers 10 septillion years" which "vastly exceeds the age of the universe. It lends credence to the notion that quantum computation occurs in many parallel universes"

Google announced its latest quantum chip, Willow. But what really caught the industry's attention was a wild claim tucked into the blog post.

Every time I come across "exponential growth" in a business setting, I chuckle about people conveniently forgetting that numbers less than 1, including negative numbers, can be exponents. WeWork experienced "exponential growth" right into bankruptcy

It's fascinating to me how differently the exact same content posted at the same time performs on different platforms. On Threads, the post below got over 10K views and 600 likes, but here on BlueSky, crickets. I have 5x fewer followers than on Threads, but not even a single cricket chirped.

I loved Crash Landing on You, Squid Game, and Alchemy of Souls, but today's Korean drama was my favorite: starring the Korean people, democracy prevails

Just a little reminder that the South Korean president who just declared martial law was elected two years ago on a wave of anti-feminist backlash. Misogyny is routinely part of the authoritarian package.

This. I am reminded of Elizabeth Warren's counsel: "Choose to fight righteous fights." You're going to be attacked no matter what you do, especially as a woman leader. Fight for what you believe in.
Engage in the RIGHT fights and you will have a far better long-term risk management strategy. The inability to think long-term is a continual failing of unis and something we in the harassment space talk about a lot. And it's the difference between your alums/faculty being proud of you or not. 8/fin

Me: I'm the one doing the drive, stop complaining!

Saw an AI-generated image that included a reflection which I was 95% sure broke the laws of physics, but now after looking at it too long, I'm doubting myself.

Nice, getting gaslighted by AI on immutable laws of nature. Sweet
