This is possibly a more realistic scenario re tRump & the beeb than we in the UK are seeing. It's not all international bullying. There's quite probably an internal US angle. He can't manipulate the foreign broadcasting companies as easily, so they pose a bigger threat to his demanded narrative
7/ Why is Trump bothering to intimidate the BBC with the threat of a €1 billion libel suit?

Because the BBC has a very large audience in the US, where it is trusted considerably more than all major US news brands.

Truthful reporting is anathema to autocrats.

Something interesting yesterday. A run behind the one and only Locomotion No. 1

This is a replica, but so old itself it needed restoration for the Railway 200 anniversary celebrations.

A receding tide on a slowly brightening but still breezy Montrose basin, slightly calmer than the very blustery evening last night..

"Historical evidence should warn us against the idea that strong men get things done, which is almost always wrong. The concentration of power promotes loyalty at the expense of wisdom, flattery at the expense of objective advice, self-interest at the expense of public interest."

“When crops are burned for fuel, new land can be needed to grow new crops for food or fuel. This can lead to indirect land clearance and deforestation. Staggeringly, biofuels globally therefore today emit 16% more CO₂ emissions than the fossil fuels they replace.”

Much brighter this morning, thanks to clear skies and the moonlight.

Hello darkness my old friend. Probably not much of a chance of morning views now till the end of February or into March now. Sounds of geese gently stirring in the distance..

I'd tag ScotRail but they haven't bothered setting an account up here yet.
