Woot! Finished the NaNoWriMo challenge. Though, I have a long way to go to finish book three. But at least now it has some meat to it.

Doing NaNoWriMo.
Currently at 13234/50000.
Woot.

Completed books one and two.
Today I finished the first chapter of book three. (Of five. Currently. We’ll see how that goes)

So, I did an evaluation. What have written is already roughly at the high end of a fantasy novel’s word count.
So gonna do a closing chapter for the arcs and finish books one and two. Only around 80 pages to do that.

Writing is still going well. By the end of the week I’ll have almost 800 pages of this beast done. Over halfway there!

Woot. Book two is at 310 pages so far. Part one is pretty much complete and ready for a beta.
Book one part one should be done with beta by the end of the week. Moving right along! Hoping to have part two for both done by end of year.

College grades posted.
Passed the last class.
4.0 GPA for my MS.
Finally done with school forever.

Six more pages and I should be done with part one. It’s the longest effort I have ever poured into a project. After a year of revisions, it clocks in over 220 pages. This time it feels right. As soon as I wrap up this chapter and do a comprehensive edit, I think it is time to send it to beta.

Huge congratulations to Zohran Mamdani on winning the NYC Democratic mayoral primary. A 33-year-old Democratic Socialist with a grassroots campaign on housing, healthcare, and dignity, he upended expectations and beat Cuomo. Progressive ideas aren’t fringe, they’re real.

How Zohran Mamdani stunned New Yorkers with mayoral primary win
Cuomo and other Democrats had mocked Mamdani's policies - free public buses and city-run grocery stores - as unrealistic.

A little over halfway through part one of my story!

Woot, on page 292 of 359. But need to flesh out a lot more now, despite removing two major story lines. Interesting to see it growing, though. Taking on a life of its own.
May 12, 2025 at 12:34 AM
Woo! Made it to page 262 out of 344. Gap is closing, and progress is being made! I’m gonna finish writing the full draft this time!
May 4, 2025 at 12:13 AM
Yay. Rewrite is at page 238 of 334. Though, for some context, after I’m done adding the chapter I’m working on, the next one for revisions was originally my chapter 2. That was six years and a lot of work ago. Wonder how much of the original will remain. Kind of a Ship of Theseus problem.

Rewrite is progressing. Still meeting my quota of at least a page a day. Currently at 204, but when I finish redoing these next six pages, I’ll be able to pick up at around 230. Goal for the weekend.

Wrote eight pages today, successfully wrapping up the first major story arc. 198 pages.
Now that I’ve spent all this time and effort building the world, the second arc is going to bulldoze it. Excited!
