Trump repeals America’s first-ever tax on greenhouse gases before it goes into effect.

The methane fee would have had the same impact as taking 8 million gas-powered cars off the road.

The Flinders Ranges is a place where the sunsets are often awesome - such as this time, as the dust hung in the air after the big dust storms after a scorching hot day.

I was told recently that I shouldn't be discussing this stuff at a local level - but it bleeds into policy here in Australia. A conservative government could follow the US lead, which is frankly terrifying.
NEW: The UN has confirmed to me that there are no US officials present at #COP16 in Rome

US is not signed up to the UN biodiversity convention, but usually attends to participate in negotiations

To my best of my knowledge, this is the first time the US has been missing at biodiversity talks

Folks, this isn't complicated!

Someone who says "of course I support protecting the environment," but then slashes the budget of the *Environmental Protection Agency*, does not actually support protecting the environment!

There's no need to pretend there's some secret brilliant principle here!

Nuclear just doesn't add up - not economically, or environmentally, or socially. It is the most expensive option for all three measures.
Threatening independent groups with closure for speaking the truth is fascism and it has no place in Australia
Senator threatens climate body after nuclear 'carbon bomb' report
Additional emissions from adopting the Coalition's nuclear plan equate to 200 years of domestic air travel for Australia, a new analysis from the Climate Change Authority reveals.

The enormous banyan tree in Lahaina’s Banyan Court Park, a symbol of resilience, stood tall before the devastating 2023 fire. Though scarred, parts of the tree survive, and recovery efforts continue. #prettypictures #arne'spictures #photography #lahaina #banyantree #maui #resilience #hawaii
