Just over a year ago, we visited #Bromsgrove to mark the anniversary of the 1840 boiler explosion which killed Joseph Rutherford & Thomas Scaife.

We were supporting #RailwayHistory research, into Bromsgrove railway staff, carried out locally:

This is a fascinating thread! 🫖
In WW2, the British government mobilized to create a global, distributed logistics chain aimed solely at keeping Britain supplied with one resource.

Flagged as a critical war effort, at times it carried a shipping priority higher than munitions.

That resource was Tea. 🧵 /1

Self-promo:

If you know someone who cares about the First World War battlefields in France/Belgium, they might be interested in my book, The Caretakers.

It is about the British/Commonwealth FWW veterans who stayed in France to care for the cemeteries, and were trapped there by the Nazis in 1940.

Will it ever run again? The four EEPROMs ( 1982) have got bit rot. I used to love 68K assembler, much better than that weird Intel stuff! Original cost with 10MB hard drive was around 14k GBP, maybe I could get £2 each for the 72 DRAM chips!

Nous nous souviendrons d’eux,
Ne les oublions jamais
