We identified many differentially expressed genes and found differences in gene ontology processes between groups. Genes involved in cell cycle regulation were enriched in miniature taxa, while genes associated with growth factors and tissue development were enriched in large-bodied gobies.

GO traditionally focused on protein-coding genes, but a new publication by Antonazzo et al. highlights the recent expansion of ncRNA annotation. Definitely worth reading for both researchers and curators!
