Brits being mad about Thanksgiving is the weirdest phenomenon. Americans are just minding their own business and arguing about which side dishes are the best. No one involved you. Stay over there.

Society is a construct. You can just ask someone to do a ska cover of Faith of the Heart and they'll say "$300 please" and you give it to them and then you have it.

Everyone, give

All I know about Canadian measures and standards is that they probably had the right idea when they held onto the Robertson screw head when almost everybody else went with Phillips.

(Yes, of course, JIS and Torx screwdrivers are super-cool but but that's a whole other issue.)
Finland uses “Russia-gauge” rails. They are going to move to European compatible rail gauge for their own resilience.

This is what we should be thinking about for moving to open social away from American platforms: it should come with significant spending commitments & is absolutely necessary.

Still baffles me that George Lucas felt that a guy who chopped up children and blew up a planet could be redeemed through a single act of love and get to be a cool ghost...but that a petty crook who'd kill someone trying to kidnap him at gunpoint was just too unheroic for a feel-good redemption arc.

Here's something fun you can deploy when MAGA shitstains make gross MAGA comments under local news stories, in your family's Thanksgiving planning group-chat, etc.

Probably extra-useful against female MAGAs (for obvious reasons) but there's no reason it can't be used on the male variety as well.

Haven't watched anime on ten years so my terminology on these questions might be a bit outdated:

1) Is Iron Man a mecha?

2) Is Ant-Man a kaiju?

3) Is Hulk's hulk-out a henshin sequence?

4) Does the origin of Star-Lord make GotG an isekai?

"How could THEY join ICE? It must be internali-"

Has it occurred to y'all that a LOT of people are complete shitstains who'll jump at any excuse to terrorize people who can't fight back?

Like, that's not even CLOSE to being a white/native/nativist/Christian/conservative-specific thing.

I'm an omnivore who was with a vegetarian for many years and it turns out that wanting to cook for someone you care about is a great motivator to get much better and more mindful about cooking vegetables.

Every omnivore should do that.
Been having more vegetarian meals for dinner and my sleep cycle has gotten better

For Men's Day...

1. Make some men's health appts.

2. Do a traditionally male-coded task for a loved one.

3. Check on a bro who is going through it. The statistics SUCK, guys.

4. Don't let ANYONE tell you how to be a man.

4. Whether you were born into bro-hood or joined later in life...enjoy it!

Whenever I decide to rock a stubble for a bit I make sure to keep my head clean-shaven the whole time.

It's an easy way to ensure the facial scruff looks intentional rather than gross, creepy, or sloppy.

...except on this guy.

Apparently it doesn't work on this guy.

Clay Higgins: The lone lawmaker to vote against releasing the Epstein files - BBC News
The resounding vote in favour of the Epstein bill, 427-1, marks a rare moment of bipartisanship on Capitol Hill that was - almost - unanimous.

Gethsemani Farms is run by Trappist monks. They make nice chocolate, cheese, and fruitcake. Thomas Merton was a member. I used to visit their abbey occasionally.

...and their mailers all address me as "Reverend" because it turns out anybody can select that option from dropdown. They don't check.

I dearly hope Willie Nelson is doing all of these tribute albums out of love for his departed friends and their music and not because someone is manipulating a 92 year old man.

His new version of Merle Haggard's "Today I Started Loving You Again" is sitting heavy tonight.
