When Hegseth sobers up, he needs to take a look at UCMJ Articles 90 and 92. Then, for casual reading, he can check out the decision in United States v. Calley with regard to illegal orders. Is the killing of civilians in boats legal if they haven't been given due process?

Can we move some of the ICE tear gas budget to SNAP? That ought to feed a few million people for a while.

Early in my career, I was a history teacher. Later, I transitioned into IT and have worked in that area for 40 years. Little did I know that the concept of versioning, so ingrained in IT, would one day apply to history as well.

If Trump changed the name of the Defense Department to the War Department, why can't he change the name of the Department of Homeland Security to the Gestapo?

So what, exactly, is "inconsistent with the public interest?" I would opine that airing Trump lying would meet that standard.

If this isn't a caricature of the gestapo, then I don't know what is.

This is like a burgler who goes to court and uses the defense that he shouldn't be convicted because it will be very difficult to return what he stole.

Isn't it about time for Congress to make laws regarding the minimum qualifications for cabinet and agency posts? For example, minimum levels of experience in the public or private sector directly related to the job. Even an acting CDC head who isn't from the healthcare sector is unforgiveable.

I wish the press would stop calling it deportation when someone is sent to a country other than the one they came from. It's called rendition.

Just a thought, but what do you do if your Department of Justice is corrupt?

The President appoints with the "advice and consent" of the Senate. Is it possible to withdraw that consent?

As an Air Force veteran, I am disgusted at the AF giving Ashli Babbitt full military honors. She disgraced the uniform she wore. Hippocrites.

Trump invented a national emergency in order to unilaterally impose tariffs. Now that those tariffs have brought on an impending economic disaster, when is he going to declare the tariffs a bona-fide emergency?

If you read the history of the 1930s, you'll know that this is true and well-said. Many Germans wanted just to wait Hitler out, thinking he couldn't possible have staying power. Now it's people who just say "Well, he'll be gone in 3 more years, we'll just wait him out. Why rock the boat?"

From NYT regarding Medicare's experiment: "The A.I. companies selected to oversee the program would have a strong financial incentive to deny claims. Medicare plans to pay them a share of the savings generated from rejections." What could possibly go wrong here?

The media needs to start distinguishing between "deportation" and "rendition," especially as Trump is threatening to "deport" U.S. citizens.

Whatever happened to the inverted pyramid of journalism? It seems that, with online journalism, the incentive is to keep you reading as long as possible. Hence, putting the important details at the end has become the hallmark of online journalism. The inverted pyramid has been turned upside down.
