Time to relax! 15 minute presentation for #PiBI2025 done ✅️

Thank you @persbodyimage.bsky.social for the opportunity!

Erin's talk was one of the ones I was most excited about and it didn't disappoint!
Refreshing to hear a move away from negative lenses and how individuals were empowered by their disabilities. Really looking forward to more on appearance-functionality and reading this theme in more detail!
Joshua Francis shares a new scale of social comparison in development for children.

Erin Vinoski Thomas analyses the content of #DisabledAndCute posts on social media.

Lastly, Fidan Turk reports meta-analytic that social comparison is robustly associated with eating disorder symptoms.

Paolo Mancin's talk just now in #PiBI2025 on the benefits of nature on body positivity and appreciation of the self has reminded me I need to organise my monthly outdoor time for September 🌳

I've found that these walks or visiting fancy houses and their grounds has done WONDERS for my mental health

No rest for the PhD student - this week is Perspectives in Body Image online conference! #PiBI2025 @persbodyimage.bsky.social

First day was full on, including hearing the journey positive body image has been on with Tracy Tylka (very heart-warming)

I had the privilege last week to present my poster at the International Autism Congress Conference in Dublin - what a wonderful experience!

Thoughts in a thread, because I have a LOT

This is maybe the worst part about being an educator in the AI era.

AI companies are *stealing your time* by making you work around it/find it/adjudicate it. Time that, 4 years ago, you would have used to improve your materials, or stay up-to-date on some area of research.
“Educators now spend a significant amount of their time detecting AI-generated work and seeking ways to assess whether students are developing essential skills.”

Yes. Everywhere.

Now heading home from Utrecht, Netherlands after presenting with @ruthknight.bsky.social and @ercaldwell.bsky.social at #BRNet2025!

A proud moment showcasing our inclusive methods, hopefully encouraging others to reflect. It's bad science if the computational models are based off inaccurate data!

Busy week for the lab! It was an interesting experience hearing from clinicians and other researchers about the problems surrounding eating disorder research.
I ended the day feeling hopeful and full of energy of the potential that we could achieve together💪
Hosted the first meeting of the Yorkshire Eating Disorder Research Network today. Despite a heavy dose of imposter syndrome-induced nerves earlier, it was great to share discussions about challenges, facilitators, and priorities with others who understand the challenges of working in this area.

Earlier this week, I presented at the 4th York Psychology PGR Conference!
A super proud moment to showcase my participants' experiences and where I aim to go next with it all.
Well done to everyone who presented on the day - poster or talk! 👏

Super proud to announce that earlier this month I achieved Associate Fellow HEA status! 🥳

It was a great opportunity to develop my reflexive writing and determine my own pedagogical approach.

I highly recommend any PGR, ECR, or anyone else starting their teaching journey to get involved!

We advocated and modelled for our inclusive and co-production practices, situating marginalised voices at the forefront of knowledge.
It was great to hear the great work being done in clinical settings locally - looking forward to seeing where it all goes within the Learning Disability community
A great lab day out yesterday to present some research with @gburton221.bsky.social and @ercaldwell.bsky.social at a @tewv.bsky.social research event. Brilliant to hear about the projects being done through the trust and their ongoing commitment to real coproduction. Also got to see some ducklings!

Spent a theory-heavy day at Durham thinking about Epistemological Modes and what/how claims are made about data + our knowledge 💭🧠
Feel very lucky to hear from the expertise of Andrea Whittle and Stefanie Reissner, but ready for a brain break now 😅
