This little manuscript contains a treatise on cosmography that describes and illustrates the Ptolemaic model of a spherical earth at the center of the concentric spheres of the universe, and includes diagrams of eclipses and an astrolabe (UPenn LJS 26) #medievalsky

Pound and lock in the upper section of the flight of Fourteen Locks on the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal, Crumlin Branch. (I think the gates visible beneath the trees belong to lock 18 -- but I may be wrong: see the plan here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fourtee... ). Spot the two ducks on the pound!

The Manuscript of the Week is RIA MS 23 O 48(b), Liber Flavus Fergusiorum. The contents of this Irish-language manuscript are mainly religious tracts, lives of the saints, passions and homilies and some legendary episodes from the Ulster cycle and the tale of Fortinbras (Stair Fierabhrais).

I noticed a dabchick staring intently across the water.
When I followed her gaze, I could make out two figures in a pea-green boat.
And yes, they were flying the flag of true fidelity...
