Sorry to hear Tunwall Radio is closing after 21 years. Some of the custom switchers Steve built for the stations I engineer are absolute works of art. Reliable, well-designed, and built to last. Thanks for decades of quality broadcast engineering

I love what I do. Broadcast engineering, the radio business... all of it. Yeah, I see where this industry is headed. But I'm going to ride this out and make the most of it while it's still here. No regrets. ❤️ 📻

Everyone and their mother has a self help podcast telling you to find your purpose. I found mine: talking to literally nobody about broadcast engineering while slowly descending into madness. Self help is overrated, transmitter troubleshooting is forever. 🎙️📡

Changed my car clock after the time change? Nah, I'm playing the long game. See you in March when it magically fixes itself. Work smarter, not harder.

Kudos to Microsoft for making Windows Updates my top source of late-night registry edits and existential crises as a broadcast engineer. Thrilled to learn my 2016 equipment is now "outdated" for no clear reason. Compulsory updates? Call it progress! #WindowsUpdate #ObsoleteByDesign

Ridiculousness was 90% of MTV's schedule. What will they air for endless hours now? Teen Mom marathons? Catfish reruns? A camera pointed at their empty lobby?

KNAC makes a legendary comeback! I typically skip programming updates—there's a lot out there—but this is massive! Although I didn't grow up in California or tune into the original FM, I fondly remember streaming KNAC.com. #RadioRenaissance

Most broadcast engineers know what is critical and what is not, and what can be on-premises and what can’t. Also, a good engineer knows that you need a reliable backup Internet connection, but how about your cloud provider? Have you thought about that one? Let’s talk about it.
October 30, 2025 at 5:55 PM
Do you have backup internet for your business? Radio stations need similar cloud backups. During an AWS outage, stations with only AWS went silent, but those with AWS and Azure backups continued broadcasting. Relying on one provider is risky; multi-cloud solutions are smarter.

New job needs Cisco skills so I'm buying a used Catalyst 3850 from some guy on Marketplace. Either walking out with a switch to practice VLANs on or becoming a cautionary tale. Honestly 50/50 at this point. 🤷‍♂️

AWS outages can disrupt the internet, impacting broadcasters relying on one cloud provider and causing financial losses. A multi-cloud strategy is better than depending on a single provider. #radio #broadcast #technology

Relying only on AWS for your station's automation without a backup is risky, as shown by Monday's outage. Imagine losing your 7 a.m. broadcast slot on a busy workday. Tune in tomorrow as we discuss why a multi-cloud strategy is crucial. #BroadcastTech

Monday's AWS outage was a wake-up call for radio.

You wouldn't rely on single internet with no backup. Don't rely on single cloud provider either.

AWS primary, Azure backup. Just like Spectrum + Lumen.
