I have an upcoming flight, and I purchased the new AirPods to try out the ANC on it. I'm low-key impressed - I wish I had something like this to protect my hearing years ago...

Too bad it takes so much effort to hear over the ringing in my ears now...

Today I’m instructed i can’t take my “professional” lenses beyond a certain length into an event - even though that certain length is indeterminate by somebody who doesn’t do photography…

Next year I come to this event? Guess what? I’ll have a teleconverter. I wish people would stop gatekeeping…

Canon camera influencers are all in Japan for an event at the moment and the rumour mill is very hot right now!

If the rumours are to be believed I’ll definitely be getting a new body in the new year…

I’ll be starting to read the graphic novel “V for Vendetta” ahead of November 5th.

Somehow, I feel like it’s going to hit differently this year.

Next week will be October 2025. Where has the year gone?!

I think my biggest gripe over the MacBook Pro’s is the lack of enough ports… You’re the reason cables are so messy Apple.

I’ve made what’ll likely be my last photography purchase for some time. It’s a new lens, and it should be here in time for the Drupal events I plan on attending towards the end of the year.

At least, I won’t have to combat low-light situations anymore. That’s a huge win.

In preparation for the worst, I am now communicating to you using a self-hosted VPN. I am not sorry, and you won't stop me.

And once again I’m back on the steroids. At least I can start to feel human again…

I occasionally come back to where I had one of my first jobs. It’s always so jarring to see how much hadn’t changed here.

In fact, the only thing that has changed in the past 20 years is the people.

So it seems soon in Australia we’ll need age verification for search engines and social media.

I really am disgusted at these policies, and there’s no chance I will comply. If that is where I must kill all social media in my life, and have other workarounds for search engines…

Then so be it.

I guess I’ll have to revisit my plans at the end of the year if there isn’t going to be a DrupalSouth Community Day and GovCMS Mega Meetup.

I really wasn’t a fan of well-organized online conferences during the pandemic, I won’t waste my time with them now.

I might go out for ice cream instead.

So November is just 4 months away. How’d that happen?

I’m using a new toothpaste now - Apagard Premio. It’s Japanese and not cheap however I have been exceedingly impressed after only a week.

I feel like this is the product I have so long been searching for.

I absolutely recommend it.

AR glasses? I never have been and never will have interest.

In fact, I’ve been debating dropping all screen time that’s optional . There’s generally nothing except negatives to spending any vocational time on a screen.

I think I’ve invested enough into digital, so no thank you.

Notion works well - I like it, but is not self-hostable… even so, it and all of its competitors that do offer self-hosting don’t offer E2EE…

Kind of a shame, but I guess I won’t be changing my personal notes app.

Push-up challenge day two: I’m very sore, which is a good thing!

I had a brief chance to try out a new flash today. I’m very happy with it, but I will need a real excuse to use it…
May 16, 2025 at 7:20 AM
My replacement flash arrived, and it looks like this one works.

Now to find an excuse to get out and use it…

There’s just one more piece of hardware to get before the end of the year now, and I’ll be done.
May 15, 2025 at 6:19 AM
Going to need an excuse to get the camera out again in a couple of days… I have some replacement hardware inbound which I’ve been waiting for, for weeks now.

So as a response to my frustrations with the world, I’m hereby making a commitment to move to a PinePhone by the end of the year, specifically for a couple of privacy features, or rather the lack of two specific features.

I’ve only just discovered “Hi Ren”.

What an incredibly passionate, emotional and creative song with depth to the words.

It’s genius!

You know what continues to blow my mind? Just how different and unique we all are as individual people.

It continues to blow my mind that my perception of all things in life is so significantly different to other people.

Kind of amazing really.
