I know there are concerns about A094, the continuation of the Task Force on Communion Across Diffrence. I think this needs to continue. There remains work to do to ensure we embrace what I believe to be a charism of our church: #gc81

The justice who was in the majority the most was Sotomayor. The justices in the minority the most, Thomas and Alito.
Every year or so, a thinkpiece comes along that tries to convince people that, actually, the Supreme Court isn’t as out of control that those hysterical liberals make it out to be. With graphs and empirical tools and such.

This is the latest version of that. www.politico.com/news/magazin...

This is the natural outcome of war, non-violence is the way to peace.
Seven workers for the charity group World Central Kitchen were killed when an Israeli strike hit their aid convoy in the Gaza Strip. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu released a statement on Tuesday saying Israel “deeply regrets” the strike.
Israeli Strikes Kill 7 Aid Workers in Gaza
The attack on clearly marked vehicles run by the World Central Kitchen shows how dangerous relief work has been during the war, and adds fuel to accusations that Israel has bombed indiscriminately.

Preaching on the Day of Resurrection is the most difficult assignment in the church calendar.
The Resurrection is unique. It is the one event that occurs in and from another realm altogether. In this life we have no access to it. We know it only through faith in the One who lives and promises.

Advent One: Let us not be be confused by thinking the ‘expectation’ of Advent is about Jesus in a manger nor the incarnation of Christ. Today we remind ourselves that we prepare for the second Advent of God thru faith in God’s next beginning.

What worries me about this is that in furthering the association between Chanukah celebrations and the war in Gaza it increases the likelihood of antisemitic attacks against other Menorah lightings elsewhere.
A festival in Virginia canceled a menorah lighting because they were concerned a Chanukah celebration would send the message that the festival was “supporting the killing/bombing of thousands of men, women, and children.”

They offered to reinstate the celebration if a ceasefire banner was hung.

My own preferred way to describe the comprehensiveness of the saving death of Jesus is to see that three things happened in that death: Jesus died (1) with us (identification), (2) instead of us (representation and substitution), and (3) for us (incorporation into the life of God). -NT Wright
