The Chair Company really delivers in every way imaginable. Right up there with The Curse, The Rehearsal, and even Jury Duty as signature meta-comedy series of the decade

Everyone knows Collins didn't rip off Battle Royale with Hunger Games. She ripped off The Condemned (2007) - it's well documented the author was an absolute freak for WWE wrestling, especially the Attitude Era led by "Stone Cold" Steve Austin
Quentin Tarantino bashes ‘The Hunger Games’ for “ripping off” ‘Battle Royale’ on Bret Easton Ellis’ podcast:
“I do not understand how the Japanese writer didn’t sue Suzanne Collins for every f***ing thing she owns.”

Might start Ahsoka next? Only got 2 weeks left of my Disney trial and can probably do one more show (which i know all of my Lboxd fans are happy to hear that I'll go back to watching the sordid and obscure media of manic depressives)

Crazy update - first time since i got on Letterboxd in 2016 that Samuel L. Jackson has been supplanted as my most watched actor. SLJ has anchored that upper left most spot since the beginning. Apologies to all my fans. Will rectify by finally watching The Sunset Limited

A part of me really thinks David Corenswet is the next James Bond. I like Aaron Pierre if they have to go Brit for it though- guy's so steely and has the look for sure. those are my 2 picks :)

Watched Secret Invasion as well. Really like that it's a very different wrinkle than most of MCU so far. Samuel L. is just so aces as Nick Fury and has the character down perfectly which really makes it fun

Started two pilots with Kelly trying to find "our" show. Watched Ripley (excellent) and Schitt's Creek for the first time (very funny). We'll see which one becomes our regular watch together :)

Halfway thru Succession rewatch. S1 love Logan's grounding. S2's range is magnificent - Boar on the Floor, L to the OG, if it is to be said so be it so it is, Stewy revenge tour, Gerri/Roman, i think a lot of the time i'm really pretty unhappy - every ep a pure banger. 2 more to go & we're on fire

watching Apples Never Fall (on 'da Cock). one those shows from the beginning you know there's gonna be some twistyness coming down the pipeline. very in that Bloodline oeuvre with light hints of The Perfect Couple and Based on a True Story. i love Sam Neill

watched Fleischman is in Trouble. not as in love with it as many of my dear friends. feels like an awkward and genuinely sad but visually clean elder-millennial squid and the whale with less lacerating humor and a more dramatic plot conceit. just once i wanted it to touch closer to kramer v. kramer

Flaked (2016) is a terrific show and love Will Arnett in it. Right in that same vein as Loudermilk (2017) and Lodge 49 (2018) as criminally slept on just guys being dudes shows. Great hang out show with complex problems, real characters and a whole lotta Cali vibes.

finished Dept Q - another Nflx show w/ frustratingly slow pacing. 3 episodes too long. saw it thru knowing scott frank would pull some twisty shit in the end. also felt like merritt was the less appealing of the 2 cases and the show rly heated up for me more when focused on Carl's near assassination

watching We Own This City currently. i love Jon Bernthal and a sneaky good David "Superman" Corenswet showing. Jamie Hector and Josh Charles are aces too.
