The loss of the politics staff at Teen Vogue is an absolute travesty.

In a media marketplace that has been decimated by billionaires, tepid takes, and AI slop, Teen Vogue often stood out as a bastion of principled, purposeful journalism.
I was laid off from Teen Vogue today along with multiple other staffers, and today is my last day.

certainly more to come from me when the dust has settled more, but to my knowledge, after today, there will be no politics staffers at Teen Vogue.

This sucks. Teen Vogue has been a real bright spot in political media. I hope the excellent journalists there find a home quickly.

Thanksgiving in Canada has nothing to do with Columbus!

We are a colonial country with a million things to atone for but Thanksgiving is not one of them.

Our Thanksgiving is timed with the harvest and it's literally just "Be grateful for harvest"

US Imperialism has brain rotted too many of you.

Did you know the first thanksgiving celebrated by Europeans in North America happened in Canada?
Or that the Indigenous celebrated autumn harvests long before Europeans arrived?
Why do we celebrate Thanksgiving a month earlier than the United States?
This is the story.

I cannot take anyone seriously who talks about "Canada was spending too much money for a while there, so we gotta rein it in" while completely ignoring that a major, huge cause of that was Covid-19 pandemic responses and attempts at mitigation.

Same, but our garage. Take the 2 min survey if you, too, have old electronics that you don't know how to dispose of.
It really is a 2 minute max survey. We have ancient electronics piling up in our apartment because we can't safely dispose of them.
Teen climate activist (my son) needs Canadians to respond to a 2-minute survey to help him build data to bring to local Cdn politicians to urge them to make it easier for Canadians to donate used electronics for reuse (after wiped clean) and recycling. Pls share: marketing4health.formaloo.me/b8j3vp

Me too, all of this. I am Canadian, yes, but also #settler. So... hesitantly and mildly patriotic while recognizing the privilege that colonialism has given me, today?
I always have complex feelings about Canada Day, and this year, they're extra complicated. I hope a lot of things for this country. I hope we build mature understandings of sovereignty and respect for the land and each other. Death to imperialism. Long live red and white cupcakes if that's your jam.
