Husband. Dad to 2 fur babies. Podcaster, but not the alpha bro kind. Superman fan. Batman fan. Hulk fan.
My only real exposure to Steve Englehart’s writing until recently was his Batman run (which is phenomenal) and his Green Lantern work (which is a bit wonky as it goes on).

Having now read a selection of his seventies Marvel work…y’all…I am now a fan.

Bought this shirt last night and then conversation with Rachel.

Me: We were all issued that when I was a teenager.

Her: The shirt?

Me: No, Spider-Man #1. Everyone had it. It’s like that gag from Wayne’s about Frampton Comes Alive. If you were buying comics in 1990 you had this book.

Saying that SNAP benefits can’t be paid because the government is shut down is one thing.

Actively fighting to keep those funds from getting to people is a willful act of trying to keep people who need money for food from having it and they is fucking evil.

One of those “it’s impossible to adequately measure how much this show means to me and how much of an impact it has on my love of superheroes in general and the Hulk specifically” is the Incredible Hulk television series that ran from 1977 to 1982. 1/

I shouldn’t be as annoyed that Icons Unearthed: Marvel for ignoring the 1982 animated Hulk series and saying that the 1996 series was Fox Kids when it was on UPN.

I shouldn’t be. But I am.

Watching Icons Unearthed: Marvel. The first episode is all over the place, as such things are, but it’s good seeing a lot of @seanhowe.bsky.social being interviewed.

There is the usual “how are you getting something so simple so wrong” but I’ve come to expect that from this series.

Want some more recycled audio?

Well…you’re getting it anyway.

@apleyland.bsky.social & I are back with the second part of our look at the 1995 Year One Annuals. In particular we’re looking at the ones for Poison Ivy, Man-Bat, Riddler, and Robin.

I’ve been looking for my calendar for next year and zeroed in on this one.

In 1976 Marvel put out a calendar to celebrate the bicentennial. They’re putting it out again for next year and it feels right to get it given we’re both turning 50.

Excited for this one.

The original Defenders run (issues 1-152 and the stuff that led into it) is actually just a D and D campaign played by the heroes of the Marvel Universe. Especially the Steve Gerber run.

I will not be taking any questions at this time.

This was a lot of fun. Always happy to talk to Anthony but to talk about the books that made me a Superman fan is even better.
🔥 NEW EP! Superman podcasting veteran @fobpodcasts.bsky.social returns as we discuss the first year of John Byrne’s rebooted Man of Steel in the main titles — SUPERMAN, ACTION COMICS, & ADVENTURES OF SUPERMAN — including *that* Big Barda story 😬 & so much more.

THIS WEEK my partner in sleaze Andrew Gross joins me to celebrate spooky season by discussing the classic Super Friends episode, UNIVERSE OF EVIL! Along the way, we detour into frightening cartoons from the past along with our usual shenanigans!

The website Fortress of Baileytude will be going away in early November. Full details in this post but the short answer as to why is real life and money. This will not have any impact on my current shows as they are hosted through Libsyn.

I would like to nominate Golden Phararoh for Most Useless Member ever.

I assume he is not an away team member if that energy needs to be recharged by the pyramids once every 24 hours.

Seriously. We could have gotten characters that are…you know…not useless?

Just wrapped up the December episodes of Overlooked with @apleyland.bsky.social and I can’t wait for y’all to hear them. We discuss three issues of Ed Brubaker’s Batman run as well as Batman/Huntress: Cry for Blood & Batman: Death and the Maidens by @gregrucka.com

Modern science has yet to create a device that can measure exactly how important the Super Powers toy line is to me as a fan of both super heroes and as a DC Comics fan.

I have a pretty decent assortment of figures and vehicles in my collection (all boxed up at the moment)…1/

Saw that the second Triangle Era omnibus came out this week. I have no idea when I’ll be able to get a copy but I am so looking forward to it.

Need to catch up on this show. These episodes in particular are special to me. Bought them in a three pack at Kay-B-Toys in 1988 or 1989.
Join me and @longboxreview.bsky.social as Wonder Woman learns how a gun, an American flag, and Steve Trevor’s mom(?!) ended up on Paradise Island.

Because of a recent comment on the WHO’s Who podcast from @isamuhy.bsky.social and it made me want to dust off my Millennium podcast idea. I put it on the shelf because the idea of it made me sad but Isamu’s comment made me think I should do it after all.

That’s a really weird way to say that the law enforcement in your state is not up to the task and instead of trying to fix that you want to ask daddy to send his friends to do their job for them.

I never want to hear a Republican talk about states rights ever again. Because it was always a lie.
Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry: "Tonight, we're sending the Department of War a request to send the National Guard, asking them to deploy the National Guard here in Louisiana into our cities like New Orleans and Baton Rogue and others."

Joshua Lapin-Bertone was nice enough to ask my opinion on this. This is the 5th or 6th time that a news outlet has referred to me as a Superman expert or historian. When I get to ten I’ll be shown the secret handshake to finally get to interview Mark Waid.
