The winters I lived in Ohio prepared me for this polar vortex moment in Nashville. **That doesn’t mean that I like it — just that I can dress myself to tolerate it.**

Whenever I say the following words, I pause for a second to make sure that I am saying the correct one:
CALVARY
CAVALRY
CALGARY

But tbh, they don’t come up in conversation much. There are very few “The cavalry arrived at Calvary Church in Calgary today” moments in my life.

Two years ago today we were awarded the Congressional Gold Medal for protecting The US Capitol on January 6th 2021. Almost 4 years later the efforts to downplay, whitewash and minimize what happened appear to be succeeding. I won't ever stop standing up to them.

What I’m reading today: “There are global consequences to inserting political management into our military.” — Chuck Hagel, former Secretary of Defense and former US senator (Republican) for Nebraska.

Opinion | Chuck Hagel: Why I’m Worried About Our Military
Political independence and ethics are the bedrock of our armed forces. Today, I am concerned that both are in danger.

I love Nashville, but Tennessee is killing me. Our public-school teachers and their students are so important, and Gov. Lee and his partners in crime in the legislature don’t care.
Commentary: A $2,000 slap in the face. West Tennessee educator and columnist Gabe Hart writes that the one-time $2,000 teacher bonus Gov. Bill Lee is offering in his latest school voucher plan is an insult to highly-trained teachers.
A $2,000 slap in the face • Tennessee Lookout
Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee's new school voucher plan offers teachers a one-time, $2,000 payment -- a slap in the face, writes one educator.

The Onion wins auction for Alex Jones' media company
The sale must be approved by a bankruptcy judge. Proceeds will go to paying down the $1.5 billion debt that Jones owes families of Sandy Hook shooting victims who won two defamation suits against him.

Today’s listening pleasure: Brenna MacMillan’s raw mountain sound on the song Black Bear. Check out her debut solo album Dear Life — great vocals, banjo playing, and collaborations. Would love to see her in concert in Nashville.
