Fix the technical hurdles and do it. While its understandable that Belgium wants reassurances and well-considered details, they should be proactive to make up for being ignorant on defence spending.

Just spent week in Beijing talking to officials, scholars. Their msg: 2nd term Trump=opportunity for China. He’s not ideological, sees Xi as a peer, bungled his trade war and can stare down DC China hawks. But he’s unreliable, so a debate on how to use him.

This is Russia's "human safari" in action: a double-tap war crime caught on drone video.

First drone hits a Kherson gas station. When firefighters arrive, a second drone strikes them.

Maintain trade by requiring vehicle and other risky software to be built, managed and hosted in EU by fully European companies and/or orgs. This means these buses need to be sold/bought with only open source operating systems. 'Services packs' need to be bought in EU. Open source is the way.
And again... should we worry that any product coming from China could become a national security threat? What about US products? Or from anywhere else? There is a big difference between sensible risk management and outright paranoia. www.ft.com/content/07ec...

Well said. 100% agree!
The reason the EU gets pushed around by the US and China is this: Russian shadow fleet oil tankers operate with impunity in the Baltic, keeping Putin's war machine running. If you want to be feared and respected, you have to confront the challenge right in front of you. Nothing else really matters.

This is a great illustration of the sort innovation and production we need for a modern war economy. Dual-use drones/robotics and production facilities. In peace time they can sanitize terrains, excavate, build dykes etc etc. In wartime they support the front. But also in IT, healthcare, energy ..

Pretty spectacular how Russia - though its difficult to be 100% sure - is threatening Belgium with these drones. One would think this is only making Belgium more susceptible to cooperate on confiscating frozen Russian assets.

wtf 🤬. Kaja Kallas already spoke out about this and the boat bombings/killings in Caribbean? While Europe should prioritise de-risking/decoupling from US and China, we should still constructively communicate about our expectations from the US. Trump/MAGA fascism can still be overcome.
