Night falls in a forest at the end of the Jurassic, and a group of Eousdryosaurus leave their daytime shelter to begin their period of activity. Small and defenseless, this ornithopod has acquired nocturnal habits, where, sheltered by the darkness, its large eyes allow it to monitor its surroundings

WELCOME BACK, MIRAGAIA 🥳
new material from portugal - along with a review of prior material - has led costa et al. to conclude that miragaia is distinct from dacentrurus, listing over a dozen differences between the genera

A female Gideonmantellia pauses for a moment to watch over her young. She is an attentive mother, and although the chicks are capable of feeding and fending for themselves, during the early stages of their growth they will be accompanied and watched over by their parents

And after some color corrections (oversaturated greens, which can happen when viewing on a monitor and then on other devices), a more definitive version of this little Mesozoic gazelle!

A Hypsilophodon runs and jumps nimbly over a rotten log. Small and defenseless, these animals rely on speed as their greatest ally, and it could be said that they are designed to run

Here I bring you the recreation of Eousdryosaurus, a small Portuguese dryosaurid, quite similar in principle to Dryosaurus, which has served as a model for the proportions (we only know its hind legs) and an addition of filamentous protofeathers.

We have described about twenty species of sauropods in the Iberian Peninsula; it's one of the most abundant dinosaur groups here. One of the latest additions to the list is Garumbatitan, a huge somphospondyl that may have grown to over 20 m in length

Gideonmantellia, although it looks like a strange chicken here, is one of the most basal ornithopods known. A strange and little-known animal whose remains have been discovered in Spain. I hope you like the reconstruction!

Nunca habéis visto un animal como este. Se trata de uno de los dinosaurios acorazados más antiguos que existe. Y estaba cubierto por púas y espinas de una manera jamás vista: ‘Spicomellus afer’

Well, in the end I decided to make my own reconstruction of Spicomellus, the trendiest dino right now because… well, because it’s just amazing. What an incredible animal. And what a challenge it was to model it

Felt inspired to do a piece inspired by paleoart aesthetics that were common when I was growing up. This is mostly based on a particular one by Mark Hallet, though I think I channeled some other influences as well.

What if the tiny ornithopods and their relatives were actually more like strange birds? A look (still WIP) at a slightly different version of Hypsilophodon!

Yanliao biota (middle Jurassic china) palaeontinidae (cicada relatives) I think all the best known taxa are present together with few more obscure ones. While the colors are artistic vision the specific wing patterns are not and are as they were preserved in the fossils. It's quite magical. #sciart

First deformation tests of the updated model for Hypsilophodon. Some corrections are needed, but for now the mesh seems to respond well. Now comes the difficult part: giving it a nice texture
