I learned something years ago.

If you notice something odd, it's unlikely that you are the only one to notice it and with a little conversation with others, you realize that it is actually a real thing and not a one-off.
My husband is smoking a turkey this year but forgot to get pellets for the Traeger so I went out at 5 pm to the grocery store to get some expecting chaos and it was absolutely dead.

No line at checkout levels of dead.

Idk if that's a recession indicator or what but it was weird.

Hell, back around the Great Financial Crisis, a Fed economist commented that Americans were "hoarding cash" instead of spending.

Ummm...they were saving money.
stupid young people, stop buying a new phone every year if you don't want to be broke. wait no, not like that.

My father was cremated and his ashes were to be interred in the family cemetery more than 4 hours away.

I was taking his urn immediately after the viewing but privately wondered where to store it in my car for the trip; it felt wrong to put it in the trunk.

Recently lost my father. Picked up his ashes this week and have no idea what to do with them. Would it be the worst thing in the world if I just sort of, left him in his house when I sell it?

Not all pharmacies are equal, and in our area, it's two independents who do the custom mixed prescriptions.

I had to check online for one of them and discovered that the pharmacist also has a gun store at his pharmacy.

Yeah, the custom topical and a Sig P365, please.

I was talking with my 7 y/o granddaughter.

She is obviously unaware of what's going on, but told me that when she's old enough, she wants to travel abroad and find a place where she wants to settle and live.
"In 2025, 40% of women aged 15 to 44 say they would move abroad permanently if they had the opportunity. The current figure is four times higher than the 10% who shared this desire in 2014, when it was generally in line with other age and gender groups."

Having been a significant visitor to the Healthcare system, I understood how badly his H-1B actions screwed Healthcare.

As a long-time cancer survivor, I understand exactly what it feels like to contend with potential death. Not just the cancer, but the long-term damage done by the treatments

But for the first time - ever - I have absolutely no sympathy for anyone in his situation.

He traded the money to Zimbabwe for their old one hundred trillion dollar note (circa 2007 or so) and now we owe them change for the difference.

Just another goddamned extortion racket.

@conorlambpa.bsky.social needs to primary Fetterman again.
Remember when Cory Booker got a bunch of police chiefs, and police reformers, and Republicans on board with a police reform bill before the GOP just jammed him on it at the last minute, and everyone went on talking about the Dems being “weak on crime” anyway?

Yeah.
Republicans demand tougher abortion restrictions to extend Obamacare funds
Democrats say that’s a nonstarter, arguing there are already limits on abortion access. The dispute could torpedo a deal, leading to higher health insurance premiums for millions.

"I'm concerned about their patriotism."

Many of these controllers have watched DOGE roll through any number of government agencies and watched fellow federal employees get axed because some dipshit kid had a hard-on for Excel spreadsheets.

This goes both ways.

I would have called in as well.

Serious question.

Who would have standing to just sue Mike Johnson for violating either our rights, existing laws, or violating Article 1 of the Constitution for refusing to bring back the House into session?

Any citizens or organizations?

I have now found the new label for the Oligarchs: the Nerd Reich.
“With significant funding from tech leaders, Rockbridge aims to equip MAGA to outlive Trump... It is gearing up to deploy its arsenal in the [2026 and 2028 elections],” aiming for JD Vance to takeover.

They believe a “select group of elites are exactly the right people to move the country forward.”

Chris Buskirk put tech elites in power in Trump’s Washington. His efforts are grounded in a controversial theory: An “aristocracy” is needed to move the country forward.

Delighted that the Billionaire effort for the No vote failed.
