I didn't know when I awoke that the day was going to plummet, with a message from Tom, the husband of my friend Alice Kazmierowski, to tell me of Alice's death. She'd been living with leukemia for nearly 4 years, cared for by Tom & the good folks at Princess Margaret Hospital. Alice was beautiful.

Really the only completely sympathetic character in the whole Barry and Honey Sherman murder case is one of his legal counsel, Shashank Upadhye. I was really taken with him: his integrity and his generosity of spirit. He's a genuine human being, and pretty humble and funny, too.

Summertime at Moss Bank. My sister, a textile artist, made this postcard-size piece for my upcoming bday. Moss Bank is the beloved little boathouse on my rural property. Formerly The Adam Vaughan, renamed some years ago. I thought of Termite Spa, but far too subtle. So Moss Bank it is.

I'm not a television person whatsoever, but I'm obsessed with the Sherman murders, so last night I subscribed to Crave to watch their 4 episodes of a riveting documentary by @kevin-donovan.bsky.social. I thought I knew every detail going in, but I was wrong. Holy, it's good.

I am in such a bad mood that if someone even looks at me sideways I am likely to run screaming into traffic. I was wrong
to come onto here today. Everything makes me furious. Especially my relatives and most of my friends.

@shawnmicallef.bsky.social do you know Heathaven, on Avenue Road? Two doors north of Algiers South?

Newark. I'll just say I have an airline pilot nephew who was flying out of LaGuardia, 36 miles from Newark. That's what, 5 seconds? I nearly had a heart attack. I opened the windows and went back to bed to die.

What's this I hear about Adam Vaughan shilling for the Therme spa at Ontario Place? First he joins Navigator, and now this? I named my little derelict boathouse The Adam Vaughan after him bc he argued for a rebuild, not a teardown. Now it's renamed Moss Bank. No regrets whatsoever.

I lost my phone. I went to buy bagels, came home and it was gone from my back pocket. All depressed, I went to brush my teeth and think about what to do. There, on the edge of the tub, was my phone.. An end of Passover miracle.

Last July I moved from the country to the city. Been back a few times. Last week coming back to the city was so tough. Last evg a country neighbour texted me that beavers had dammed our shared pond and it was overflowing. I am so desperate to be part of the crew that undams the damn dam.

Anyone watched a 1995 film called Harrison Bergeron? It sends a chill down my spine, considering I'm watching it in 2025. It's available on YouTube. Cast with Christopher Plummer, Eugene Levy, Andrea Martin etc.

I couldn't have predicted that the immediate solution to Canada's dire shortage of medical professionals lies in America. The New Underground Railroad consists of physicians, nurses, surgeons and other highly skilled professionals coming north across the border to a warm Canadian welcome.

I started watching a movie my cousin in London UK recommended for a saxophone piece playing in the middle. Never got that far. Had to turn it off bc it's so creepy, also timely.
It's called Harrison Bergeron, and has a million great actors in it. Maybe 1995ish? I don't know.

Just in case anyone remembers the murders of Honey & Barry Sherman in 2017, the incredible Kevin Donovan has a break in the case tomorrow morning in the Star (page A1, above the fold) and he'll also be on 1010 AM radio at 7:20 a.m. discussing it. No idea what he'll say. I won't sleep tonight!

Just changing my mobile phone service to "Canada Only". It's a pain-in-the-side to change it, but totally worth it.

It's not just about buying non-USA food, I realized this morning. My website hosting company is USA based. There are going to be a lot of changes made around here, and this is just the first of them.

My Toronto credit union has merged with a larger credit union based in Windsor. It's like when your small high school gets absorbed by that huge high school and you have to be bussed there. I like the c.u. model but Windsor is too close to the cesspool. Any Toronto credit union recommendations?

Another thing that has changed irrevocably:
the dry-cleaning business. I took two dresses in last fall. First time in over 5 years. $70 each. Today I took a coat in, to a different dry cleaner. $147.41. Who knew the tariffs had kicked in already?

What did Chantal Kreviazuk just sing? "That only us command"? Did she mean "That only WE command" or "That command(s) ONLY us? Not being pedantic here; I really want to understand what she meant.
