Created in 2011 by the Coalition of Immokalee Workers, the Fair Food Program (FFP) certifies farms that follow a strict set of workplace safety rules. In exchange, those farms are first in line to sell their wares to big produce buyers that include Walmart, Trader Joe’s, Whole Foods and McDonald’s.
These farmworkers created America’s strongest workplace heat rules
The federal government doesn’t enforce workplace heat protections. The Fair Food Program, founded by farmworkers in Immokalee, Fla., does.
