"You don't have to be oppressed to be a woman" or "you don't have to define your womanhood by your oppression" are not statements that anybody actually needs to hear because they are entirely abstract, theoretical considerations about a hypothetical future. Yes, once women no longer face systemic oppression they can still keep calling themselves "women" if they want. In practice sentences like these are used to convey the meaning "Trans women are non-misogynized and should not appropriate the struggles of cis women and trans people AFAB for themselves or imagine themselves as oppressed by misogyny (anti-AFAB-oppression). You are allowed to call yourself a 'woman', but only as an empty signifier that says nothing about your social location, and if you think your social location is that of a woman then you are talking over the primary targets of misogyny (people AFAB). You are seen as a man and consequently your social location is that of a man". It's an implicit defense of the TERF notion of "sex-based oppression" wearing the threadbare guise of "opposition to gender essentialism".

basically i hate the way corporations use ai, try to shove it into everything, and want to use it to justify laying people off. there are many societal and structural issues surrounding the idea that it can magically do everything as well as or better than pre-existing techniques. i think trying to fight ai image and text generation by increasing copyright protections is fighting fire with oil; it will just allow disney and the like to monopolize generative ai because they *own* all the art their employees make for them, so its not breaking copyright for them to feed their own model 5000 drawings and then fire all their artists. this doesn't solve fucking anything regarding corporate use of ai fandom culture is rooted in copyright infringement anyways, we shouldn't be staning copyright. fansubs, romhacks, and doujinshi forever i think a few people (like the AWAY group) are doing cool, innovative stuff with the tech, especially with locally run (not in a datacenter, just in a personal PC) models. the more specific their vision, the more they have to iterate and edit in post. by any reasonable standards, such models and uses are "ethical" - but people have increasingly see the very concept of the technology as ontologically tainted. people are getting really fucking ableist about the idea of someone physically not being able to draw or mentally not being able to compose an email, in light of a handful of disabled people using generative ai as assistive technology also stop calling people with prosthetics clankers. and stop reskinning antiblack, antisemitic, antihispanic etc slurs into being about robots because "ai and its users deserve slurs". "screws will not replace us" and "rosa sparks" arent funny jesus christ

Intersectionality was supposed to be a framework to discuss the ways in which various axes of marginalization overlap and reinforce each other, to forefront the experiences of the most marginal. Instead it's been mangled to drown feminism out, to say everything else is important before gender.

This experience of trying to discuss patriarchy outside the West and immediately being talked over by women going "WELL IT'S BAD IN THE WEST TOO" is so frustrating and ubiquitous. We're starting to notice and demand answers as to why we can't discuss our experiences without false equivalencies.

personally if I had a realization that I'm trans I would want to keep the friends but I probably wouldn't want to keep misgendering myself by going to communities specifically for the gender that I am not. I also think it's extremely reasonable to designate spaces as **for women only**. many (most) community spaces are open to allies, and if a trans man goes he is going as an ally. but if a space is not open to allies and is for women only, trans men shouldn't go. because they're not women. the alternative is to go to literally any other space, where men of any particular group tend to dominate.
