Had a beautiful conversation with my kiddo the other day. To paraphrase, they asked, "If the universe is so big and we're so tiny, what is the purpose of our lives?". I paused for a moment and replied, "It is a miracle that we or any other living thing exist at all. The purpose is purely to live".

It took Herculean will to convince my child to come outside for a woods walk yesterday, but it was so worth it when - unprompted - they made a heart out of the birdseed in their hands and said, "This is me saying I love you".
