Life is like a game of E.T. for the Atari 2600. Sometimes you fall into a hole, and you have to lift yourself out. Then you fall into a hole, and you have to lift yourself out. Then you fall into a hole, and you have to lift yourself out. Then you fall into a hole, and you have to lift yourself out.
The results are in! After years of "not liking" coffee despite being "a kind of person who would like coffee" and who appreciates both 70s/80s coffee shops (ie, diners) as well as 90s/aughts coffee shops, it turns out I am officially allergic to coffee and now I can just end the discussion quickly.

Writing an RFP for the first time in a few years. Honestly wondering if I should include a statement that it was written with explicit and accurate language and not by ChatGPT.

Things I haven't done since going off Zepbound:

1) Vomit

I really want there to be a good weight loss medication, but IMO these are bulimia medications. So disappointing.

After so many uncool years of "not liking" coffee despite all attempts to caffeinate in an adult way, my official allergy tests have come in. The only "food" I'm officially allergic to is, that's right, yes, coffee.

Fool me once, shame on me. Fool me twice, and, yeah, I'm never ordering an item from eBay again that might possibly pick up the ludicrously heavy perfume of its prior owner.

The only Blu-ray I've ever upgraded to UHD has been THE UMBRELLAS OF CHERBOURG, in hopes of, perhaps, seeing colors I've never previously seen.
CHOTINER: So this movie, you already had it on bluray?
ME: That's correct.
CHOTINER: And you've bought it again.
ME: Not exactly. I bought a 4K bluray of it.
CHOTINER: Superior?
ME: Yes.
CHOTINER: Perceptibly superior?
ME: The resolution is...look, on an OLED-
CHOTINER: Do you have an OLED?

I've been working hard these past couple of months to try to make things right. I'm pleased to report that my cholesterol is 144, my A1c is 5.5, and I feel like absolute garbage on parade.

What I remember most of our brief stay on the Queen Mary is being evacuated at 3 in the morning due to, bacon I guess, and standing shivering outside in our bedclothes until it was time to reboard this ostensible majestic ship.

Had horrific nausea all day, have a prescription for an anti-nauseant, and now hiccups (apparently a known side effect of the anti-nauseant) are going to keep me up all night. FML. Don’t even know what to do. So exhausted. So done.

Oh, I am totally going to buy a single share of Warner Bros. Discovery for (checks) TEN US DOLLARS so I can personally assist in preventing David Zaslav from doing even more damage.

Nana Lourdes' "Buckley Horse Race Machine 1937" is without question my favorite song title, ever. Whatever happened to you, Nana Lourdes? Genuine bops.

Everything I've ever bought or considered buying from Vinegar Syndrome has always started with the warning "Subscribers: This is NOT included in your Subscription." Totally not selling me on that subscription, guys! Like, what even is included? The Compleat Norman Fell? Oops, All Abe Vigoda?

Went to a 9:30a matinee of FRIENDSHIP. "Why are we even awake?" I ask the concessionaire. "I have no idea" she says. The human condition personified.

Pitch: A Werner Herzog / Slavoj Zizek body swap movie, in which nobody really notices but both devolve into an even deeper existential crisis.

Hearing someone proudly mention they used ChatGPT for something is roughly equivalent to someone suddenly pulling out a vape pen and blowing a cloud of cotton candy smoke in your face, smugly thinking they look cool and futuristic.

I always find ratings funny when it comes to something like UNIVERSAL LANGUAGE. Why is this movie rated TV 13+? The harsh Brutalism of Winnipeg? The depiction of melancholy when returning to one's childhood home? The need to understand fluctuating layers of irony and sincerity? Earmuffs? Turkeys?

I'm very convinced at this point that the current administration is engineering a recession to coerce the Fed to bring back Zero Interest Rate Policy. This would result in interest-free borrowing and a tax-free environment for corporations and the ultra-rich, with more inflation for the rest of us.

I am looking forward to the day when David Zaslov is tossed out of the front doors of the building by a burly security guard, and the company we knew as Warner Bros., then Time Warner, then AOL Time Warner and now WarnerMedia is officially known as Ketchup Warner.

Kinda excited to get a fully-automated Waymo home from the local tiki bar tonight, but rather surprised how difficult it was to get in the back seat as a tall man. Nobody at Waymo is over 6'3"? I was gigantic in the '80s, but these days it's honestly surprising that there would be this much trouble.

I had only seen PLAY IT AS IT LAYS on a 90s TCM recording and seeing it as intended was remarkable. The combination of Lichtenstein pop-art, Hollywood opulence, episodic storytelling and existential crisis was overwhelming. Frank Perry has been unfashionable for years, and maybe that shouldn't be.
