My 1982 Rhodes Seventy-Three is finally singing again for the first time since… probably 2009. Super excited to have found a local dude who works on vintage keys. Don’t think he’s on Bluesky but you can find him at thelonious_skunk_keys over on the IG. Thanks man!

Custom home made ribbon crasher. $22.45 in parts at the hardware store, a salvaged cowbell mount, and a little work vs. $80 or more from any percussion company. Might disassemble and paint the wood, might leave it as is. Haven’t decided. #percussion #percussionist #DIYPercussion

Got invited to join Spacefish on percussion for their Halloween show again this year. They’re still building the set list, so I’m still building my setup. No, I’m not telling who we’re going to be yet.

Last night’s office. Always fun to have a gig. Particularly fun to have a concert setting where we’re the focus instead of being musical wallpaper. (The wallpaper gigs are fun in a different way.) Audience was very appreciative, and everyone had a blast.

Decided to get spacey and get back to my Expanse-inspired demos before the air show got going for the day and I could no longer hear myself think. Does this sound like the souls eaten by the protomolecule? Excited to finally be making progress on this project again.

The show that filmed their pilot here in Tucson and I got to be an extra in like 3 years ago finally has a release date! No clue if they kept anything filmed here after relocating to NM. My felt voicing tool for my timp mallets has been missing a needle for years. Today I got hyperfixated on fixing it. Thanks to Joe at @imc-az.bsky.social for trying to find an appropriately sized screw w/o luck. Rummaged through my IT stash and a screw from an old hard drive fit! Finger for scale.

Then made it to a local electronics shop to replace the missing tempo knob. Found a perfect fit for $2.17 total. A dot of silver nail polish for a position indicator and voila! Syntaur does have the original part available… for $9.95 plus shipping. I like my bargain better.

Went out to R Bar to see The Modeens play their first show in ~10 years. They sounded great, and it was really good to connect with some friends I haven’t seen in far too long. Shame it’s a school night - would’ve hung out longer otherwise. @cristinaawilliams.bsky.social

Used part of my tax refund to upgrade my command center. Got a proper chair to replace the one I took from the dining table, and a nice ultrawide display to replace the old TV I’d been using as a monitor.
