#OnThisDay Nov 11, 1865: Chief Shakopee (Little Six) and Wa-kan-o-zhan-zhan (Medicine Bottle), leaders during the 1862 US-Dakota War, are executed at Fort Snelling. They had been captured in Canada by Major Edwin A. C. Hatch, who had no authority to detain them, and returned to Minnesota for trial.

Given the song’s musical and lyrical themes, the 50th anniversary would be the perfect opportunity for a rerecording of the track by @dropkickmurphys.com

The Edmund Fitzgerald sank 50 years ago today. The next year, the singer-songwriter Gordon Lightfoot chronicled the tragedy in an unlikely hit single.

The Target CEO has seen your boycott, has read the demands, and has instead decided that it is the hourly employees fault and placing blame and burden on them
"Store employees are now required to smile if they are within 10 feet of a shopper.

They also must make eye contact with and wave to or greet the customer.

If they’re within four feet, the employee should ask how the customer’s day is going or if they need help."

🙄 Won't stop the boycott, y'all.
Target is now requiring its employees to smile more
As the holiday season fast approaches, Target is urging its employees to add a little more “jolly” to their work routine.

This is just bad journalism/data visualization from Sahan Journal. Fundamentally misunderstands and misrepresents the election. And on top of that, feeds a narrative that Jacob is far more popular than he is.

Hey Minneapolis.
The only way we will know who is declared winner of the mayoral election is if someone wins outright on round 1. But otherwise we will not know who’s the winner until tomorrow.
Right? No way we’ll go to bed with a new mayor elect?

Return of the Rentals turned 30.
I didn’t discover it immediately, but instead picked up this copy 4 or 5 years later at the best used books and records shop in town.

I’m sorry. I hate this the same way that I hate Academy Awards coverage being about predictions and focusing on guessing who will win the Oscar instead of who should win or who you want to win. I know it’s not an apples:apples comparison.
WIN PRIZES FOR ELECTION KNOWING. It’s the last day I can post on Minneapolis elections (I’m an election judge so no Tuesday posts til 9-10p.) Here’s the game: pick the winners in *every* race on the Minneapolis ballot. Tie-breaker is turnout. I wil award appropriate prizes for Top 3. Hash: #mplswin

Hey election knowers,
In ward 13, what is the best, most obvious way to protest Linea Palmisano, who is running unopposed?
Option 1: vote for mayor, no vote for city council. Difference in total votes cast for mayor vs CM, but I’m worried that doesn’t necessarily register as anti Palmisano.

We stand in solidarity with the Minneapolis Federation of Educators, local 59, who filed their intent to strike on Friday, October 31st. They are in their 10-day cool-off period, which means they could reach a deal or walk out on Tuesday, November 11th.

We choose to live and raise our families in Minneapolis. We work hard for the city that we love. Now, we need a Mayor who works as hard as we do. We have a shot to build the city we need right now.

Get to the polls by Nov 4 and vote for new leadership. secure.actblue.com/donate/fateh...
