The only thing that a circular economy (and the right to repair) hurts is capitalism.

Buy when needed, not because of FOMO. Repair and upcycle when possible.

Done with the endless chase for profits. Not my problem.

Few patients appeal a health insurance denial, but a little-known process that requires insurers and plans to seek an independent opinion can force insurers to pay for what can be lifesaving treatment.

Here’s what experts say you need to know.

When a health insurer refuses to pay for your treatment, you may have the right to have the denial reviewed — and potentially overturned — by an independent provider. Here are six steps experts sugges...

I am thankful for independent journalism, and for the fact there's still a chance we make it out of this mess to build something better and stronger.

That'll only happen if we all do our part in the fight. If we do, no tyrant, no matter how much power they seize, can win against We, The People.
Every day, Americans are bombarded with the bad news of Trump 2.0, and it is exhausting to keep track of and absorb each new outrage. That is the clear intent.

When one is caught in the crossfire, it is hard to see, let alone address, the big picture.
Donald Trump and the deconstruction of America
Don't let the daily outrages obscure the big picture.

Serious howls of outrage in the media this morning at what is a relatively modest Budget from Labour that does nothing more than fiddle around the margins.

It does highlight the missed opportunity. If you’re going to get this reaction anyway, why not at least get it for attempting a big swing?

Ezra Klein has played a fascinating role in entrenching “polarization” as the – deeply flawed – master narrative of our time: His 2020 book “Why We’re Polarized” did a lot to propagate the idea.

But if you read the book carefully, Klein inadvertently provides a good case *against* this diagnosis.

I still remember the camaraderie of the early days of Covid.

For a moment it felt like we were going to put aside rugged individualism & embrace a future that was more community minded.

It felt like disabled people might get a real seat at the table.

That hope being ripped away still hurts.

i have been thinking a lot about how the entire concept of “the deal” is antithetical to transparency, fair play and rule of law, as larry notes. the deal is necessarily nonstandard, ad hoc and dependent on the whims of the dealmaker
The idea that President can negotiate/dictate bilateral “deals” by using the full force of the federal government to punish and humiliate his perceived enemies goes against the whole idea of the rule of law. That should be the story, rather than normalizing this authoritarian behavior.
