I've been on X a lot over the last year or so. it's where most of the discourse amongst AI folks seems to happen, and I want to keep up with that.

It's mostly fine; I block a lot of folks that are outright alt-right. But then there's a lot of subtle stuff from folks in tech. And then there's this

this is disappointing. I have admired DHH's work on Rails and his general engineering philosophies, but his essay "As I Remember London" is concerning.

using coding agents is so exhilarating. you go from an idea to a working prototype in almost no time. the hard part is getting your specification right, but once you master how to do "dialog driven development" you feel like a fucking god.

This is NOT a call to inform me. I'm already dealing with the horror of finding out who Charlie Kirk was.

DSL + LLM is the way to go
Perspective: stop embedding an LLM into your app when you really need a scripting engine. Consider a hybrid model

@steveklabnik.com brought up some ideas i've been thinking about, how LLMs today resemble early compilers, but also how undefined-behavior can lead to crazy outcomes, so i want to publish them even if it's a bit rambling. Better out than in, as they say..

If anything pops the AI bubble it may be consumer rejection. It’s taking off like wildfire inside the tech industry, but most people aren’t nerds like us
Even if Duolingo is helping you as it once did me, deleting your account is the only correct move right now. The company posted record profits, but capitalist greed means they're killing jobs, lowering quality, and will be creating an increasingly inferior experience for increasingly higher prices.
I have completely deleted my Duolingo. I was informed by one of my kids that the company has removed most of its employees and 70% of the company is run by AI.

I urge everyone to delete their app.
