#ArtAdventCalendar Day 7 is an oldie but goodie of the photogenic little house finches that visit my deck each morning - love the brilliant reds some of these guys display, more reminders to pay attention to the our 'common' feathered friends 🪶📸

I love this hellebore. It starts blooming in November and gives me some winter white even when it doesn't snow.

I think all of my characters would find themselves on the naughty list some of the time, but Baelore, a tyrannical giant, is definitely getting coal in his stocking!

My MC is raised Christian, but her adventure connects her to pre-Christian pagan deities from Irish culture.

Is your character religious or spiritual?

Is there a god/gods in their world? Is their existence a matter of faith, or are physically present? Does your character believe?

Do they pray or perform rituals?

This is powerful.
TIL about a memorial ceremony in Iceland in 2019 to mark the end of a glacier, changing the place name from Okjökull to Ok (jökull = glacier). Uncompromising wording on the bronze plaque:
"This is to acknowledge that we know what is happening and what needs to be done. Only you know if we did it".

This one goes perfectly with a character of mine called Nahsha. Not only does she drive a chariot, but she's clawed her way to the most powerful position available to a woman in her Iron Age society. She experienced some terrible things on her way there (and sees more in the future.) #WriteSky
We're matching up our work to the Major Arcana Tarot Cards. So, tell us how your characters (or places, things, or events) match up!

Today's card is: THE CHARIOT

What character (or whatever fits here) of yours would you put on it and how do they fit the meanings?

Colleen's dad makes her go fishing at the beginning of the story, and she's not happy about it.

But then, she's not happy about much of anything.

This would fit my MC, Colleen, very well.

She's an adolescent, so her life is all about change. And she experiences both the ups and downs of the Wheel many times over during the story.

My MC doesn't deal with illness exactly during the story, but she is prone to motion sickness.

She doesn't complain about it, but she hates that it interferes with her ability to just ride in a car...or a chariot...or fly through the air with a magical being without feeling like she has to barf.

A bit under the weather tonight, apologies if I am slow to respond!

On a related note: how does your character deal with illness?

Are they stoic? Whiney? Immune to it altogether? Just drink a healing potion?

Colleen doesn't think much about the future, because she's 12.

Kids that age don't really think about the future yet. They aren't able to make long term plans, they still live more in the moment.

The most she thinks about the future is wondering if she'll ever find her way back home.
Tell me more about your #AwesomeCharacters

How much does your character think about the future?

Do they have plans for retirement and a pension set up? A distant dream but no real plans? Do they live each day as it comes and never think about it?
