My translation of a viral Japanese meme summarizing decades of U.S. complaints about Japan not buying enough American cars (while not making the kind of cars Japanese consumers actually want):

I fixed this over the weekend, thank god
Their autocorrects also spell my son’s name wrong so next time they come over I’m going to have to fix that cause it makes me crazy

I feel like I’m depriving my son of something by not doing an Easter basket or anything for his first Easter, but on the other hand I am taking him to Paris on Easter so who’s to say

The federal government actually owes US money this year and I’m just hoping there’s enough staff left at the IRS for it to actually arrive
Feeling like a big dumbass working on my taxes right now. Who am I sending this money to

Now that I have people scheduling meetings on this timeline I am confronted constantly with how annoying it is that “biweekly” has two meanings

Both of my parents use voice-to-text as if they’re leaving you a voicemail and it’s very funny to have all their messages end in “love you bye”

My official review of The Pitt is that while it’s understandable for the doctors not to have them, there are not enough yinzer accents amongst the older patients/families

This is my goal for my kid (7 months) tbh, I’m super online but I don’t think it’s doing me any good and so I don’t want him to get into it if I can avoid it
I sincerely think the generation being born right now is going to reject social media completely
Gen Z is increasingly shunning social media because of misogynistic content.

Bluesky can't simply be the platform of Resistance 2.0. It will collapse if that's all it is

anyway it seems obviously true to me both that women are not responsible for young men going far-Right and also that we as a broadly conceived Left need to do more to win more people over. that is the easy and boring true thing and fighting about it is a stupid waste of time xoxo gossip girl

Every historians association needs to speak up. This is what your refusal to engage with politics because we are only about the science or whatever has contributed to.

The racket some people are trying to run on Poshmark for baby clothes is insane. No, I’m not going to pay twice the original price for cute PJs! I don’t care that they don’t make this print anymore! It’s for babies!

Agree with this, like I was just coming here to post about various mom life stuff and I was contemplating how out of place on my feed it would be. I’m going to do it anyway but still.
I'm all in on Bluesky for sure, but one of the most frustrating things about it is that, on a cultural level, the platform leaves very little room for discussions that aren't political. You feel you have to justify why you're not engaging in those topics
As someone who mostly posts about culture in this space, which others may find frivolous, let me just say add that people who "act like nothing is wrong" may have a context they choose not to share for any number of reasons.
