Hochul, Pritzker, Newsom and the rest of the Dems should offer the GOP an alternative to counter-redistricting—federal legislation to update the 1929 Reapportionment Act to at least *triple* the number of seats in the House by capping *the size of Congressional districts*, not the number of seats …

Annnd @xai just deleted Musk's new prompt which told the Grok LLM to "not shy away from making claims which are politically incorrect, so long as they are well substantiated."

That prompt seemingly caused the LLM to become Nazi 4Chan, and has now been deleted, but other recent changes remain.

I am here for the marginalized. I am here for the targeted. I am here for everyone who feels unsafe. Ring my bell. Knock on my door. Tell me you don't feel safe, and you will have sanctuary.

It is literally the least I can do.

Oddly enough, having admitted how difficult Father's Day was for me in the past, sharing the pain and disappointment, this year it was barely a blip on my radar. I've got my furry girls, the boys next door, and all the kids and dogs in the neighborhood.

A random musing: I know I'm not in any way cut out to be management material. At a prior job, I'd be a "(senior) staff engineer", a parallel to management.

Where I'm at now, I feel that I'll be pressed into a management role when my 69 year old coworker decides he's done and retires.

I’m currently employed in manufacturing. Tool and diemaker simply do not have the capacity to actually make the amount of tooling that would be necessary to reshore even like 5% of currently overseas manufacturing. We’re already at like 16 week lead times.
these people actually think like 6 months from now companies like nike are just gonna have manufacturing plants fully staffed, operational and churning out the same product at the same price and we’re just going to go back to normal, i feel like im losing my mind

It's funny how quickly, once you know & care about people who are negatively affected by some of your choices/stances, you reconsider, or double down. I'm in the reconsider group. I have extremely negative opinions of the double down. I'd rather support the people I care about & admit I was wrong.

I received a heartbreaking email today: A paper in a special issue I’m editing is being retracted because one of its authors is afraid of losing their job and their legal status in the U.S. if they publish a scientific study on evolution. Yes, on evolution, nature's engine of diversity.

Most memes about printers refusing to print because of an irrelevant toner/ink needing to be replaced are funny. But I seriously doubt a lot of people know why "yellow" is often the complaint. Unless, of course, you've paid attention these last 3 or so decades...

Pete Buttigieg breaks down DEI for everyday folks…

“The opposite of diversity is uniformity. The opposite of equity is inequity. The opposite of inclusion is exclusion.” @petebuttigieg.bsky.social

Our problem: too many value uniformity over inclusion and they’re the ones running the government.

If, as the Trump admin contends, the federal courts lack jurisdiction over a federal government flight over international waters, then there is nothing stopping the Trump admin from deporting American citizens. As soon as they reach international waters it is fait accompli.
"The Trump administration says it ignored a Saturday court order to turn around two planeloads of alleged Venezuelan gang members because the flights were over international waters and therefore the ruling didn't apply."

That legal "theory" won't hold up.

This comes after Trump's DOJ dropped bribery charges against Eric Adams and suspended enforcement of a foreign anti-bribery law.
