Tried to get clever and print an instructional pdf as a "booklet"...

There's no way all three of us (me, the printer, and Acrobat) make it through this night alive

Leftover turkey experiment: turkey stock, ginger, garlic, miso broth with bok choy, mushrooms, udon noodles and turkey

And a dipping sauce made from leftover cranberry sauce, gochujang paste, and soy sauce

Pretty good! But the I think cranberry creation might be the star

Anyone know someone / a shop selling an advent cross stitch or embroidery ornament / project this year?

My regular gal stopped doing physical kits this year and now there’s a little hole in my heart :(

I loved her mystery ornament that you stitched a little bit of each day of December

Had eye surgery and it looks so bad post-op I had to wear big sunglasses to dinner so youngest wouldn’t cry :(

All I know is folks who have plastic surgery for funsies have amazing pain tolerance, cause ouch… so much ouch. Would not choose to experience this if I didn’t have to :(

Turkey experiment!

Tried a turkey-cetta recipe and some turkey leg confit. Both were a big hit!

The turkey roll was so herby and juicy! Plus the flavor on the turkey legs was so concentrated and the bones just fell out while crisping. Think these are both winners for Thanksgiving

You know what makes being in this country easier right now??

Braising brisket for 30 or so people tomorrow and knowing I’m gonna get to help distribute even more food to families the next day

Can’t fix all this but I can feed people

Prescription reading glasses! They are worth every penny!!

The generic ones just didnt work for me, but these made for me ones? Fantastic!

I can see tiny details again!

It was such a rainy Halloween here in Seattle, low kid turn out :(

But we threw a few pots of soup on the stove and invited the neighbors to join, eat, hangout and hand out candy as a group to the few soggy kids who braved the rain. It was great night!

Plus grownups like full sized candy bars too!

Every time I sew with fur, I say never again.. and yet here I am.. coated in fuzzy fur bits..

The stomach for a derby tiger is finished… so much fluff everywhere…

SNAP benefits are very likely to be cut off completely November 1

Kids, families are major beneficiaries of this program

If you’re a part of a school community, reach out to your PTA, your schools social worker (if you’ve got one) and see if you can help get food and funds available now

Today's fried chicken experiment: ~24hr pickle brine -> ~48hr buttermilk soak

It was super tender, but not really more so than buttermilk alone. Plus pickle juice flavor overpowered the spices in the buttermilk and flour mix

Glad I tried it, but sticking with just buttermilk/spices from now on

I just wrote a convoluted regex based formula to easily categorize protein choices on RSVPs for a dinner

Think I'm feeling that "maybe I should go back to QA/coding" itch today..

I would love to go to your improv show!

I’m sad my family’s food foibles make it seem like I’m “one of them”

I like frying in beef and pork fat, becuase it’s delicious, go away with your bizzaro health claims.
And I’m avoiding soy oil because my kid’s super allergic

Buying lard should not be some weird antivax bat signal :(

Kid and adult dinner success: chicken piccata

I made enough for a small village cause the monsters that live in my house demand it as leftovers. They ignore me as I try to explain the sauce is never as good after it cools, they will not be deterred in their leftover chicken piccata sandwich dreams

Birthday pie day for @matt.alexander.social

This year he picked his regular apple pie and the spiced pear cranberry crumble

House smells really good today!

Every now and then I try to cook a dish I used to love before I had kids and it never goes well

Today’s edition of adult food kids hate, roasted fall vegetable grain bowls with feta and lemon cooked shredded kale, and herb-lime crema

They hated every bite :(

Oh the fickleness of children!

K-Pop Demon Hunters has won her heart, she changed her costume request to the goofy tiger

Oh well, it'll still be fun to make
It’s finally happened, the reason for why I’ve been cultivating my sewing skills for decades

Youngest has asked for a Sailor Moon based costume this Halloween

I get to make a sailor suit!

Food allergies shouldn't affect medications and yet.. :(

My monthly cost on a prescription just went from like $5 to $45 cause I have to go to the special compounding one now so the pills don't poison me with mint

But I guess it was fun to confirm I'm still super allergic??

I think this is the best banana pudding I’ve ever made!

The banana meringue crumbled on top is surprisingly great all on its own. Has a great complex flavor for being just like 3 ingredients

Anyone know someone on costco.com's dev team?

Some ding dong set the character limit to 16 on the password field for costco.com & the app, can't login if yours is longer

If you're hitting the same wall, inspect the field & adjust 'maxlength' to whatever you need

No workaround on the app though :(

In another of example “lol us healthcare”, just got a call the prescribed special bandages to help my kid’s complicated wound heal are $450 and no, insurance won’t cover any of it

I’ll just be sob-raging in the corner for a minute

Have spent 4 out of the 5 last weekends in the ER or urgent care

That is too many… I do not want to know the ER staff on a first name basis…
