I just finished listening to the audiobook of Patrick Radden Keefe's Empire of Pain. It gives a fascinating view not only of the Sackler/Purdue Pharma story, which is still ongoing (new bankruptcy plan filed 3/19/25) but into the relationship among wealth, power, and the law in the U.S.

I just finished listening to the audiobook of Patrick Radden Keefe's Empire of Pain. It gives a fascinating view not only of the Sackler/Purdue Pharma story, which is still ongoing (new bankruptcy plan filed 3/19/25) but into the relationship among wealth, power, and the law in the U.S.
Lulu Garcia-Navarro's interviews with Chuck Schumer (one before and one after the vote) are well worth listening to for the nuances they reveal. She does an amazing job. It's also available as a podcast.
