I just learned about the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund— important work in the fight against censorship.
Comics are often the canary in the coal mine for censorship. People don’t see them as “real” literature so when they are banned it doesn’t get the attention that most books do.
Thats why the work the @cbldf.bsky.social does is so important and so difficult.

I just learned about the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund— important work in the fight against censorship.
Between the election and inauguration I had a conversation with my endocrinologist in which I asked him to change my prescription to no longer indicate treatment for gender dysphoria. He complied, but not without some paternalistic dismissal regarding government access to medical records.

New — The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) was told this week by DOJ that they'd lose their funding if the org didn't remove any mentions of LGBTQIA+ issues from their public materials, I've learned. Staff were told they need to deadname trans kids in their reports to comply.

I want to remind you that many Trump voters are effectively illiterate (54% of Americans read at a 6th grade level or lower, and the right skews uneducated), that the opportunity to learn this critical skill was stolen from them, and that pointing fingers will not win the class war.
