Universal basic income creates a larger base of customers. Increasing supply makes no sense without sufficient demand. UBI improves the expression of demand by making sure more people have discretionary income to spend. And tax wealth. That money isn't buying shit. It's just buying bragging rights.

I know the Trump and Elon breakup fight is fun and all in a "let them fight" meme kind of way, but really, this is why billionaires and kings shouldn't exist. This amount of power should never be allowed to concentrate into so few hands. Two radioactive monsters fighting is going to break stuff.
To add to everyone's enjoyment of this SPECTACULAR day, I'll note this: Having to deal with a bazillionaire maniac who only cares about himself is a full-on political crisis for the GOP. Musk can wreck A LOT of things. He can dramatically hamper Trump's agenda. This is a cataclysmic problem.

I think the best way of going about universal basic income is as one set and indexed to 25% of GDP per capita so that everyone benefits equally from all productivity growth, and I think the framing that @petebuttigieg.bsky.social uses here is the correct framing. I'm happy to see this argument made.
