We've paid Amelia Tyler, the narrator of Baldur's Gate 3, to voice pieces of the PC Gaming Show since 2023. If *we* can do it, a major game studio can definitely pay actors to say "I found some rusted tools" in ARC Raiders.
I'm here to tell you that voice actors (even very very good ones) are not expensive, more than make up for their cost in the value they bring to your game, and if Baldur's Gate can record real actors for every line of dialogue in the game, so can you for your 100 generic barks or even specific ones.

Getting this post tattooed on my forehead now that I've learned that apparently "nearly one in three teens use AI chatbot platforms for social interactions or relationships." www.scrippsnews.com/us-news/fami...
Chatbots — LLMs — do not know facts and are not designed to be able to accurately answer factual questions. They are designed to find and mimic patterns of words, probabilistically. When they’re “right” it’s because correct things are often written down, so those patterns are frequent. That’s all.

Very spirited @pcgamer.com GOTY meeting this year. Such a variety of games to debate the merits of, not a year where there's a perfect consensus on anything.

Stuff that's working in ARC Raiders for me:

- ARCs are a threat, mostly due to relentless pathfinding and sensitivity to alert

- Smooth movement and camera, almost nothing feels like it snags you

- Interiors avoid the drab, copy-pasted feel of other extraction games despite reusing many assets

“We never validated our core assumptions” is in the running for tech quote of the decade
"We never validated our core assumptions before investing heavily in solutions. The truth is that gamers already had the solution to their problems, and they weren't going to switch platforms just because a new one was available," a former Amazon exec said earlier this year.
As Amazon's game business crumbles, the public is surprised to discover that it was trying to compete with Steam all this time
If you're wondering how it all went so wrong, former VP Ethan Evans might be able to shed some light on things.

Wasn't really feeling Ball x Pit at first but glad I stuck with it, it's gotten a lot more interesting after you unlock the second set of upgrades and the resource-gathering minigame opens up.

How can you not love the Samurai in Final Fantasy Tactics

- Say a rhyming poem to protect your friends
- Oops, my poem broke my very expensive katana
- Hat in hand, return to the shop. Sword dealer: "Lady, he's putting my kids through college"
- Sword-poetry industrial complex repeats

Reached that essential point in Final Fantasy Tactics where everyone needs to be a Chemist so they can learn auto-potion, aka Wiegraf Training Montage

Been playing a lot of Everybody's Golf and there's this caddy named Arcana who's a tarot card reader that says things like "As it was foretold," or "It is all part of fate's tapestry" when you're making a putt. It's like having Dr. Orpheus on the course and it's very funny

Bird Catholics around the world are hailing this as a landmark discovery for Chocobo Theology
In Final Fantasy Tactics if a unit gains too much faith they leave your party to go find God. Have you ever wondered what would happen if you had Beast Tongue and got a monster unit to maximum faith? Of course you haven't. No one has.

I'm a little surprised so many sites are publishing final reviews of Battlefield 6. Unless everybody was finding full lobbies I could not...I'm not sure anyone has *really* played multiplayer yet. It was 90% bots.

Enjoyed Absolum a lot. Definitely the most interesting beat 'em up I've ever played, with roguelite elements that I hope we'll see more of in this surprisingly quiet genre. www.pcgamer.com/games/action...
Absolum review: Finally, a beat 'em up with depth
Following in the bootsteps of Golden Axe and Castle Crashers, Absolum places the beat 'em up in a gorgeous fantasy setting.

Main benefit of voiceover in the FFT remake is you learn how many character names you've been saying wrong for 28 years.

MBS now stands for Madden Battlefield Sims
It’s official: EA is going private.

The leveraged buyout will be financed by a staggering $20 billion of debt, which likely means some *aggressive* cost cutting is ahead for EA in the coming months and years.

I mean yes this is funny, but the fact that these unconstitutional stormtroopers are so directionless that they literally stand around waiting for random nonwhite delivery guys to bike past them is just pathetic. No mandate, no mission, no clue. Just racism.
ICE attempted
and failed to disappear a food delivery guy.
It needed to be scored.
