"We live in capitalism, its power seems inescapable — but then, so did the divine right of kings. Any human power can be resisted and changed by human beings. Resistance and change often begin in art. Very often in our art, the art of words."

Some of you might be like, "wait, there's a fire escape plan type thing for spiralling?" and yes! It varies depending on the person, and a therapist can help you figure out what works best for you, but I can help with some of the classics.
Coping skill checkpoint do you remember what to do if you start spiralling

Hey, #Lynnwood, WA! A colleague of mine lost a necklace that is very important to her at our conference at Lynnwood Event Center last weekend (11/8).

It is a gold necklace with an uncut ruby that isn't quite facet grade so it's a pink/red color with lots of ridges.

Please share so this gets out!

I am covering my eyes and refusing to look at the rest of my feed in order to share this:

SPINY LUMPSUCKERS. Look at them! They are adorable and would never hurt anyone!

Well, okay, except crustaceans, worms, and mollusks. They eat those. But they are known to eat out of divers' hands! SO CUTE. 🐟
Aquarium cuties for the rainy day! 🐠☔
Your Zoo admission includes our two aquariums, perfect for staying dry while exploring under the sea!

I see the “technically it’s ephebophelia” crowd is out today, so just a reminder that A) this is NOT a case where technically correct is the best kind of correct and B) the minute you say this, the gods dump you in the “irredeemable creeper” basket and wash their hands thoroughly after touching you.

Maybe it’s just the Humanities professor in me, but let it be noted that events of today (ahem) have demonstrated the value of being able to assess a large volume of qualitative data and do careful textual analysis with deep attention to context.

Do people remember that this same NYT reporter solicited a $30,000 donation from Jeffrey Epstein for a Montessori school and then got pushed out of the Times by Ellen Pollock shortly after?

And he refused to share Epstein's contact info with another NYT reporter assigned to do the piece about him.

Honestly one of my favorite kids' books ever.

I'm still heartbroken that Squidling doesn't like it, but I also sort of get it. After some introspection, I realized that even as a child I identified with Strega Nona. The Squidling identified with Big Anthony.

Hi.

I’ve been editor-in-chief of Teen Vogue for the last 4.5 years — a dream job, one I never thought a Brown girl from small town Louisiana might hold.

I am so incredibly proud of the work we’ve done and what we accomplished. Our journalism has won major awards. (cont’d)

Authors, Beware! There's a firm called "ClaimsHero" doing aggressive social media outreach claiming to
"help" you file to get $ in the Anthropic class action. In fact, it's a bait-and-switch, they are luring authors to sign up with them, then OPTING THEM OUT of the class action so they'll get zilch.

I will not support a deal that does nothing to make health care more affordable.

We are in a health care emergency. A simple one-year extension of these tax credits would cost less than Donald Trump’s $40 billion bailout for Argentina.

A vote for this bill is a mistake.

My family has been without half our income for 40 days. It has been.. very hard.

We are willing to feel that pain so people can have health care next year, or to undo these illegal recissions.

We are not willing to have been put through this for NOTHING.
