Amidst all the Spring beauty, such a terrible drought here in my region of Germany. Never seen such a dry Spring. And because of climate change, it got warm much sooner than normal, so lots of plants damaged by the late frost. No rain in sight. Been like this for several weeks!

Orchids are so amazing! These are native 'Orchis mascula' orchids that I ordered from a sustainable producer last year, with the goal to reintroduce in my area, already flowering! Also have (not pictured) Orchis militaris, Ophrys sphegodes, Anacamptis pyramidalis and a precious Spiranthes spiralis.

And finally for today, my garden peas are all in a row...well, FOUR rows, to be exact! ☺️ Unusually dry spring but #PrayingForRain

I was a bit worried because I planted them later than usual (November 2024) but my garlic is UP! 😃 The wonderfully spicy, rare hardneck variety, Metechi! 🧄

My first asparagus trench...looks like I was burying someone! 😅 But trench enriched with compost and 8 crowns of purple asparagus now planted.
