Is it seen merely as "food for the children" rather than a hub where foreign aid for Israel's military is allocated? Given this is where foreign military aid is managed, it makes sense why Trump and Musk targeted it—no USAID office could mean no aid to Ukraine, potentially bypassing Congress.
seeing some posts celebrating the end of USAID as a strike against empire. folks, none of the bad stuff is going away, it'll be funding for refugee camps, medicine, etc

Providing aid now is more cost-effective than waging war later.
One of my party facts is that according to polls, Americans believe foreign aid is about 25% of the federal budget and on average that it *should* be about 10%.
The actual number is less than 1%.
Foreign aid has long been a boogey man of the right, so it's not surprising they're vilifying it now.
