Researching the National Guard of the #Batavian Republic is a lot of fun. This is a relatively unknown painting of a unknown officer around #1799 in his workroom. From an auction, kindly provided by the auctioneer.

Lot s of nice details like the silver (?) buttons and sash.
Today in the mail: a crisp copy of the #dba #wargames rules and a book in the archeology of daily life

Thus is actually quite a good computer game. #Roguetrader

Maybe.. I’ll start finding the miniatures for the characters, a weird looking Rogue Trader (have some of those), a navigator, psykers, a sister of battle, an elf, a dark elf, a senechal..

"De Staatsregeling van 1798 kan beschouwd worden als het ondergeschoven kind van de staatkundige geschiedenis van Nederland."
De allereerste Nederlandse grondwet
Sommige jaartallen uit de Nederlandse staatkundige geschiedenis kunnen de meeste wel dromen: 1581, het jaar waarin het Plakkaat van Verlatinghe werd afgekondigd, 1848 met de Grondwetsherziening van…

Dictionary of the Oldest Written Language–It Took 90 Years to Complete, and It’s Now Free Online
It took 90 years to complete. But, in 2011, scholars at the University of Chicago finally published a 21-volume dictionary of Akkadian, the language used in ancient Mesopotamia.

The #Overloon Museum used to have a IS-2 tank outside, but now it’s a #T-35/85. It looks like the one that was inside at first and was whitewashed then.

Great museum with a D-Day immersion thingie, and lots of allied and german equipment. And a Tiger!
