TIL about a memorial ceremony in Iceland in 2019 to mark the end of a glacier, changing the place name from Okjökull to Ok (jökull = glacier). Uncompromising wording on the bronze plaque:
"This is to acknowledge that we know what is happening and what needs to be done. Only you know if we did it".

Riding my e-bike (with a Link connection) to a Friendsgiving. Yup I’m home.

Btw love seeing these new system maps up. The 2 Line connection across the Lake cannot come soon enough. I’m ready for double the frequency headed north!

Trump admin Is attempting to massive cut federal transit funds, seeking to:
1–Eliminate transit account, which funds billions of $ in capital expenses for transit agencies
2–Prevent state DOTs from “flexing” funds for transit

These changes, if they occurred, would be devastating for US transit.
POLITICO Pro: Trump administration proposals seek to eliminate transit funding
DOT recently sent two proposals to the White House budget office seeking to pare back transit money.

E-bike riders. My landlord says e-bikes may no longer be allowed in my building due to perceived fire risk

I guess the Tesla in the garage is fine 🙄

Is this legal? Not in my lease. Battery is UL certified, so truly low risk

Maybe this can be a new renter protection? @wilsonkatieb.bsky.social

Those who aren't steeped in Emerald City politics might look at the initial results for Mayor of Seattle and conclude the incumbent has won reelection. But the challenger can still win with a late ballot surge. That's not only possible or plausible, it's probable.

Minneapolis built more housing than any other major Midwest city & it’s not a mystery why.

They allowed modest density housing types city-wide, cut regressive parking mandates, and made it easier to build apartments near transit.

The results: more homes + slowed rent growth.

No surface parking. 0ft side, 5ft front, and 3ft rear setbacks. And a huge amount of private green space. I’m obsessed. This is how you keep a city green AND grow.
Courtyard buildings are the answer.

There is a case to be made that installing these in many more places (perhaps where a full size bike rack would not work or is facing pushback) would be very convenient for cyclists.
Kryptonite Stronghold Anchor

I already have one bolted to my garage floor, because garage theft is very common around me. Going to daisy chain our bikes together.

Love this! Now if only we could get consumer-focused cargo bikes for rent just like the popular Lime scooters
🚲 📦 This week SDOT presented draft legislation to enable e-cargo bike deliveries
The legislation draws upon learnings from programs in NYC and London

In England, building housing without a community center, easily accessible shops within walking distance, a New school, a local pub, etc. is considered news worthy and a crisis to the affected community. In the US, this is just the standard way we build housing.
