Mental Discipline in Messaging: How We Win (or Lose) the Fight for Democracy
If we want to defeat Trumpism, we have to stop reacting and start communicating with strategic discipline.

There’s been a kind of…fashion of late to view anti-Trump libs as lame and cringe and just annoying, aesthetically. I remember this exact same aesthetic judgment in the run-up to the Iraq war. The earnest libs were right then and they’re right now.

“If Jimmy Carter believed in anything, it was in the simple decency of the American people. That will stand as his legacy always.”

In spite of everything, I very much agree with President Carter on this point. May he rest in well deserved peace.

Don't assume maximalist outcomes for the Trump administration. That's a form of psychological surrender. We should attempt to exploit every stumble, failure, and misstep, and there will be stumbles, failures, and missteps.

A horrific sight. Truly.
DuBose was loaded onto a stretcher and wheeled off the field after about 11 minutes of medical attention

He was completely strapped to the board

My normie liberal takes are as follows

1) Summary execution/cold blooded murder is bad, and cheering it is toxic to the soul.

2) The US healthcare system is a moral abomination and single payer would be much much better

3)Charging this woman with this crime is an insane miscarriage of justice
Mom charged with terrorism for saying "Delay, deny depose" to health insurance company after being denied a claim:

Choose 20 books that have stayed with you or influenced you. One book per day for 20 days, in no particular order. No explanations, no reviews, just covers. (My focus is only on fiction and/or poetry in this list)

Pretty sure Bernie is trolling here. He knows they’re not serious about cutting the Pentagon budget.

We hear a lot about the Democrats hemorrhaging of white working class voters. But I think the key issue of the 2024 election is actually the steep drop in Black and Latino turnout. 3 million more white voters turned out in 2024 than 2020. 6 million fewer Black and Latino voters turned out.

Exactly. I’m not saying there isn’t a benefit to having more open discussions across the political spectrum. But sometimes you have to draw a line in the sand and say “that side’s yours, and this side’s mine.” Nobody should have to endure abuse for the sake of the “conversation.”
I get the pushback to Bluesky in that it further bifurcates our media ecosystem. But at this point, Twitter’s content moderation is so nonexistent and its verified users so extreme that the choice becomes either move away from Twitter or be subjected to straight up 4chan nazi bile on a daily basis.

You know who else is going to pay a very big price for this? The American electorate, including the folks who voted for him. If things are already too expensive now…oh boy.
Trump is gonna start a tariff war with Canada and Mexico.

The "do audiobooks count as reading" debate seems to hinge on the idea that reading is an inherently virtuous act.

It is not. There are some very bad books and reading them can make you dumb and mean.

I can’t tell you how different it is on X now after so many people have left. I have always followed mostly right-wing accounts because I cover them, and they are running out of people to pick fights with. So they’re just mostly fighting with each other.

I love to see this happening. I haven’t had a serious Twitter account for a few years now. Haven’t spent much time at all there, honestly. But so far I really like it here
Bluesky, with a well curated follow list, has already replaced Twitter for me as the place to immediately see what's happening of relevance to me as a media producer in the independent media space

Was looking at the 2024 and 2020 general election results for Seminole County, Florida, my home county. In 2020, Biden won by about 7,000 votes. In 2024, Trump won by about 9,000, and Harris underperformed Biden by a little under 12,000 votes. #2024election #FL #FLpolitics 🧵 (1/4)
