The Trump admin ordered a freeze on federal grants for aid programs, but a judge partially blocked it following lawsuits. In this OpEd, @dyanamason.bsky.social & Mirae Kim discuss the role of federal funding in the functioning of nonprofits.

@us.theconversation.com
Nonprofits that provide shelter for homeless people, disaster recovery help, and food for low-income Americans rely heavily on federal funding – they would be reeling if Trump froze that money
Federal grants and contracts are a major source of funding for nonprofit services in the US.

Second #nonprofit post today. ACLU raises their revenue through individual donations and philanthropic funding.
I’m curious how much federal funding he thinks the ACLU receives (it’s none).

There are #nonprofits at the center of nearly every news story. This one - alleged financial mismanagement - is a serious concern for the former executive of a multimillion dollar veteran's organization.
In 2016, Pete Hegseth signed an NDA and received a significant payout when he “voluntarily resigned” as CEO of the organization Concerned Veterans of America.

Hegseth’s six-figure severance payment came amid shocking allegations of financial mismanagement,…

And the 2028 GOP primary has begun. Let's see who signs up.
Trump didn’t start nominating the misfits until Thune was chosen new Senate Majority Leader. On that same afternoon Trump abruptly chose Gaetz as AG, followed in rapid succession by Hegseth and RFK. It was an angry knee jerk reaction to the Senate’s rejection of Rick Scott and recess appointments.
