Feeling incredibly proud today and wanted to share a story that fills my heart. Sometimes in this work, you connect with a "unicorn" client, and their journey is a powerful reminder of why I do what I do.

It is still over a week away, but join in if you know the words…

🎼 It’s beginning to look a lot like Shark Week,
Everywhere you scroll;
Take a look at my screen, you’ll see,
A tuxedo cat strikes with glee,
Batting at the sharks on my screensaver roll.

One year on.

Reading my #poem Green Eyes In Shadow’s Silhouette.

I am sorry for my poor reading.

Less sobbing than when I read to him.

Mr Kitty, I will never forget you.

T.S. Eliot's Prufrock isn't just about modernist angst.

For many of us, it's a devastatingly accurate portrayal of #neurodivergent paralysis & the exhaustion of #masking.

In my new article in Sonnet Sleuths, I explore the poem through my own lens: as a #queer, #disabled, and ADHD educator.

Back to Cat's Eye for the nth time.

Atwood's exploration of #trauma, institutional failure, and using art to process the unprocessable feels more relevant each time I read.

As a disabled scholar navigating systems that claim to help while harming, Elaine's insights cut deep.

The three-body problem explains autism support: autistic person + environment = manageable. Add rigid diagnostic systems and you get chaos, not the neat severity levels policymakers want.

Autism has its own #ThreeBodyProblem.

Level 2 ASD ‘validated’ me, but why must we rank human needs?

Severity levels feed #NDIS exclusion & systemic #ableist bias.

One shrink said I was ‘faking’; the system says I’m ‘not impaired enough.’

Time to incinerate the hierarchies 🔥

I can't express how valuable a comment on my #poetry is.

A small collection of new experimental poems that diverge from conventional forms, using broken typography, parenthetical consciousness, & fragmented text to discover meaning through a schism in self.

I've been reassessed as Level 2 ASD.

While I firmly believe that these "levels" are misguided & should be entirely eliminated, it provides some comfort after the initial psychiatrist dared to accuse me of faking the condition just because I hold post-graduate degrees.

Alt: GIF of Fry from the show Futurama, a cartoon man with orange hair and a furrowed brow over his eyes as if he is angry, yelling- overlaid text on bottom "I am shocked, shocked." He shrugs his facial features as he says with overlaid text on the bottom, "Well, not that shocked actually."

Dramatised scenes from my first client this morning.

They were so excited to tell me they had achieved their very first “A” in mathematics (or in any subject).

This after very nearly dropping out of school due to little #ActuallyAutistic support.

So happy - deserves it.

To a women-only shelter.

So #MutualAid is my last resort. #FYI I hate asking, far more than you feel uncomfortable reading this.

Don't worry, y'all. I stopped expecting miracles long ago.

Who else can resonate with this?

Fellow #ActuallyAutistic family, how and when did you start to recognise and acknowledge the signs?

What tips are you willing to share that help you to either prevent, reduce and or alleviate #AutisticBurnout (preferably ones that are universally available)?

I have been sharing this one a lot this year. Some of the experiences I’ve had and are hearing from some clients are wild.
