Honestly, what's the advancement in vacuum cleaner engineering that eliminated the belt? Belts were a big thing!
Why did old vacuums have belts? When I was a kid we had to drive like an hour to a specific small store to get the belt for our vacuum if it broke and it was a huge deal if the vacuum belt broke
