Have not seen this analogy before, but I love it. As someone who enjoys almost everything I read, I wonder if it's because I've subconsciously learned this and set my expectations accordingly.

Halloween costumes should happen just once in each person's lifetime. You have to dress up once, and then you never have to think about it again. Make it like a bar mitzvah or something.
