Have I found a flaw in the #TheTraitors ? 😱 The 3 shortlisted for murder are always last to arrive at breakfast the following day. Means last 2 to arrive at breakfast, by virtue of being shortlisted, can't be traitors! If you know this going in, then it just becomes a process of elimination!!

Narrator: It was.

Facebook reminding me of my last day in a lab (& a research career) 8 years ago today, before I jumped ship to researcher & research development. Most fulfilling 8 years of my life! I can honestly say I've never looked back & I don't regret the decision one bit! (1/2)

For any PhDs thinking of transitioning out of traditional academia where the beans that get counted are high-impact, numerous pubs... just know that you have so many other skills that are highly valuable in other spaces! 🧪

Well, that was a fun couple of hours that finally managed to help me switch my brain off! Anyone recognise this little guy? #legonotlego

Surreal experience walking around Sainsbury's when loads of emergency alerts go off at the same time. Then again a few minutes later. And again...

I guess they send them out in waves...?

Love every syllable of this. I've ever understood the need to test 'spontaneity' in interviews as I'd never recruit on that basis anyway (in my context). It's not a gameshow! I'm more interested in the content of responses, & if that can be delivered in a calm, logical, considered manner then 🏆🏆🐓🍽!
This year we’ve made some small changes to the transparency of job interviews that are get big results and enthusiastically positive feedback. I wanted to share this with you as something that is probably quite easily within your reach.

True story 😃
November 26, 2024 at 11:34 PM
About 20 years ago, while doing my PhD, I took 4 photos 3-4 months apart...one for each season (back when we had seasons!). I was able to line them up and turn them into this short video. Not perfect, but still the thing I created that I like the most! The tree on the left tells the real story! 🍃🍂

Think I needed to hear this today 😟
There are just a four weeks left until Christmas and the end of the year. You will not get everything done. So it's time to prioritise. Which are the crucial things? Which can be deferred or renegotiated? Which tasks might not get done at all? You can't do it all.

Fantastic team away day today, helping us all reconnect professionally; followed by tapas & escape rooms to help us reconnect socially. And in a somewhat surprising manoeuvre (given that it's over a month late), a candle in my dessert & a rousing rendition of happy birthday to celebrate my big 5-0!!

Think I'll try using this platform for some of my #photography, in addition to other posts. Hope you don't mind, and that you actually #enjoy them... ☺️

This still sticks with me after all these years too. "The High Cost of Living" is a fantastic graphic novel if anyone's interested/curious 🤌
“L'esprit de l'escalier”

This @neilhimself.neilgaiman.com bit from Death: The High Cost Of Living pops into my head constantly (though I usually experience this particular phenomenon in the shower the morning after).
