NHS GP. Mostly medical & travel. Might retire one day soon but for the time being still enjoying doing what I do best.

The rest of the time roaming aimlessly in North Yorkshire or Scotland.

My charming daughter -studying for her physio exams - has just messaged me to tell me I’m older than the Pain Gate Theory.

In current NHS climate, it's the safest way we have.
Happy new year.

Back to usual in #TeamGP .

On triage with another senior GP. Working with an amazing multi disciplinary team & Resident doctors.

Each vital for patient care.

Our model is, a senior GP triages & books/signposts patient with appropriate clinician/service.

So a patient just fist-bumped me rather than shaking my hand and I automatically did that thing the kids like and taught me …where you pull your hand back and wiggle your fingers into space.

We are both 60.

Excellent letter in Telegraph today. We are in the NHS family and don’t have customers we can charge more to offset this cost. This will lead to less doctor, receptionist and nurse time. #GPNIBombshell

The is so much talk of community care & neighbourhood centres, yet with right support & capped patient to GP ratios (which have been rising from 1/1800 to 1/2300 on average)
It would be possible very quickly to improve access for patients

What’s needed is funding not reform

GP life is getting tough. This week I spent 30mins each trying to reassure
1. One man that his ECG was normal (despite the digital interpretation)
2. Another, fit and healthy chap, what a Qrisk3 of 13% actually meant to him
Both insistent they wanted a private referral to cardiologist to discuss.

Not sure I'm ready for this. Have quite enjoyed time out since giving up on Twitter. But grateful to @gowste for the introduction.
But here's a starter for 10...where-am-I-Saturday?
